of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
The Buntrock Commons Student Building Assistant (SBA) supports all areas of the Buntrock Commons, fluidly connecting operations, customer service, and transportation to provide the optimal experience. SBA’s share responsibility for facility and transportation operations, as well as audiovisual troubleshooting. SBA’s maintain a weekly schedule of at least 8 hours and shifts may be scheduled throughout the day (7 am-11 pm, Monday-Sunday). This position supports the mission and goals of the Division of Student Life and the College.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Desk Operations:
Provide guests and campus members with outstanding service by remaining alert and responsive to their requests.
Provide information about the campus, including its academic and non-academic functions, current and upcoming campus events, and about the St. Olaf community in general.
Respond calmly and effectively to requests for audiovisual support, information, and other assistance within the building.
Ensure cleanliness of the work area at all times.
Interact professionally and warmly with guests via phone calls, emails, or walk-ins.
Uphold strong customer service standards for dress, greetings, phone calls, vehicles procedure, and expedient customer response.
Support tabling requests in approved building areas.
Facility Operations & Management:
Support opening, closing, and daily building rounds, and document issues as they are found through MegaMotion Direct Line.
Manage desk operations including Lost & Found, equipment check-out, floral deliveries, and more.
Conduct minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
Troubleshoot technical issues with Buntrock event spaces.
Submit shift reports after each shift.
Maintain working knowledge of emergency response procedures.
Support College van and golf cart inventory and document issues as they are found.
Collaborate with the St. Olaf Events student team to support minor setup requests.
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Interest in customer service skills as well as a general understanding of the operation of Buntrock Commons and the College.
Attention to details, desire to learn about student life, the Commons, and daily operations.
Willingness to learn technological skills needed for the role.
Willingness to wear required attire and nametag during shift.
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position may require grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, and lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs. to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
