AX Development Lead

OVERALL OBJECTIVES

The AX Development Lead is a senior technical leadership role within the ERP team. In this capacity, the individual is responsible for leading a team of AX/D365 developers, driving end-to-end solution design and delivery across the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations platform, and acting as the primary technical authority for all AX/D365 development activities. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical depth with the leadership and stakeholder management skills needed to influence outcomes across complex, multi-geography teams.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership & People Management

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of AX/D365 developers (Senior and mid-level), fostering technical excellence and a high-performance culture.
• Provide regular input on team members' technical performance and growth areas to the ERP Manager, feeding into the performance management framework.
• Conduct technical screening and interviews for AX developer roles; contribute to team capacity planning and resource allocation across projects.
• Act as the primary escalation point for technical issues raised by team members, ensuring timely resolution and knowledge transfer.

Solution Architecture & Technical Governance

• Own the technical design and architectural decisions for D365 Finance & Operations customizations, integrations, and extensions.
• Define and enforce development standards, coding guidelines, branching strategies, and peer review processes across the development team.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and Functional Leads to translate complex business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Evaluate and govern the use of ISV solutions, third-party integrations, and platform-native capabilities (Power Platform, Dataverse, Azure services) within the D365 ecosystem.
• Lead technical design reviews and solution walkthroughs with senior stakeholders.

D365 Development & Delivery

• Drive hands-on development and customization of D365 F&O using X++, including extensions, data entities, business events, and workflow configurations.
• Oversee and contribute to complex system integrations using RESTful APIs, OData, Dual-Write, Logic Apps, and Azure Service Bus.
• Lead and govern AX 2012 to D365 F&O upgrade initiatives, including code migration, deprecated feature remediation, and cutover planning.
• Review and approve technical specifications, flow charts, and architecture diagrams produced by the team.
• Oversee build, merge, and deployment pipelines across environments using Azure DevOps (CI/CD), LCS, and associated tooling.
• Ensure robust unit testing practices and code quality gates before promotion to higher environments and QA handoff.

Data, Reporting & Analytics

• Govern the design and development of SSRS, Power BI embedded reports, and financial reporting solutions within D365.
• Oversee data migration activities using the Data Migration Framework (DMF / DIXF), ensuring data quality, reconciliation, and traceability.
• Define standards for data entity usage, aggregate measurements, and management reporter configurations.

Stakeholder Engagement & Project Management

• Serve as the key technical liaison between the development team, functional leads, business stakeholders, and external implementation partners.
• Contribute to project planning activities including effort estimation, sprint planning, technical risk identification, and dependency management.
• Provide regular status updates and technical risk assessments to the ERP Manager and senior leadership.
• Support pre-sales and scoping activities by providing technical input on feasibility, effort, and solution approach.

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices

• Drive adoption of ALM best practices including version control (TFS/Azure DevOps), automated testing, and DevOps maturity.
• Champion continuous improvement in development velocity, system performance, and operational stability.
• Stay current with Microsoft's D365 release cadence (semi-annual updates) and proactively assess the impact of platform changes on existing solutions.
• Contribute to the ERP Community of Practice by sharing knowledge, producing reusable accelerators, and standardizing solution patterns

OTHER ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Assists in the training and development of technical support staff;
2. Ensure follow-up to his/her Manager on a regular basis and as often as requested;
3. Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA

Eurofins has a strong focus on Performance Management system. This includes quarterly calibrations, half-yearly reviews, and annual reviews.

Qualifications

Educational Background: · Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree. Comparable combination of experience, education and training will be considered.

Experience: · Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365 Finance & Operations development and customization. · At least 3 years in a technical lead or team lead capacity, with direct people management or mentoring responsibility. · Proven end-to-end delivery ownership on AX 2012 to D365 F&O upgrade projects, including technical assessment, code migration, and go-live support.
