Senior AWS Architect
1. Role Purpose
The Senior AWS Architect – DevOps leads the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise-grade cloud solutions on AWS. The role is accountable for cloud architecture strategy, modernization initiatives, DevOps transformation, and automation at scale. This senior position combines deep AWS technical expertise, DevOps leadership, and enterprise architecture thinking to drive innovation, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Define and evolve cloud architecture blueprints, standards, and best practices.
- Lead large-scale AWS modernization and migration programs.
- Architect highly available, scalable, and secure AWS solutions.
- Provide oversight for CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automation strategy.
- Implement enterprise-level IaC using Terraform/CloudFormation.
- Drive observability strategy across CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.
- Define SLOs/SLIs, guardrails, and resiliency patterns.
- Mentor cloud architects and DevOps engineers.
3. Technical Competencies
- Enterprise AWS architecture across microservices, distributed systems, and serverless.
- Advanced DevOps and SRE capabilities.
- Expertise in Terraform/CloudFormation automation.
- Kubernetes/EKS architecture, networking, and governance.
- Cloud security frameworks, IAM governance, and threat modeling.
- Cloud economics and FinOps optimization.
4. Leadership Competencies
- Strategic thinking and roadmap development.
- Influencing and stakeholder management.
- Decision-making with high business impact.
- Coaching and talent development.
5. Required Experience & Qualifications
- 10–15+ years of IT experience, 6+ years in AWS architecture, 5+ years in DevOps.
- Expertise in AWS compute, storage, networking, and security.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes/EKS.
- Strong scripting: Python, Shell, PowerShell.
- Experience presenting to architecture boards or leadership teams.
6. Preferred Certifications
- AWS Solutions Architect – Professional.
- AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- AWS Security Specialty.
- CKA/CKAD/CKS.
- Terraform Associate.
