AWS Cloud Platform Engineer

Project Description
Our client, a leading enterprise healthcare organization, is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to drive cloud-native transformation, platform engineering, and automation initiatives within a large-scale AWS environment. This is a hands-on SME-level role requiring deep expertise in EKS-based provisioning, infrastructure as code, and SRE principles.

Key Responsibilities
- Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies, balancing short-term trade-offs against long-term commitments and costs
- Drive end-to-end lifecycle of services from inception and design through deployment and operations
- Establish cloud-native automation capabilities to improve developer experience
- Support system design consulting, platform/framework development, capacity planning, and launch reviews
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and engage directly with internal customers
- Lead migration of legacy applications to microservices architecture hosted on AWS
- Leverage cloud-native components including containers, immutable infrastructure, microservices, and service mesh to build highly available and fault-tolerant systems
- Automate end-to-end patching, upgrades, and maintenance of the AWS cloud ecosystem
- Monitor and manage stability, availability, and performance across enterprise systems (systems, network, storage, security)
- Make data-driven recommendations to improve software delivery efficiency
- Mentor peers and socialize engineering solutions across teams
Mandatory Skills
- Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years in AWS Cloud
- SME-level expertise in platform engineering and administration, with hands-on EKS-based provisioning via automation
- Minimum one active AWS certification required
- Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS services: VPC, Networking, Direct Connect, Subnets, NACLs, Security Groups, EC2, S3, IAM, ELBs, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EKS
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible playbooks, and Python (Boto3/Lambda functions)
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation and CDK
- Proficiency in Linux Bash scripting and Linux system administration
- 3+ years with Kubernetes/containerization and DevOps toolchain (Jenkins, Ansible, Artifactory, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Solid CI/CD pipeline experience and IaC/automated provisioning practices
- Experience with SRE principles and transformation initiatives
- Strong leadership experience driving cloud transformation programs
- Basic AI exposure or experience required
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Hands-on production experience with Amazon EKS
- Familiarity with Git/repo, Crucible, and other DevOps tooling
- Experience with enterprise cloud migration and modernization efforts
