GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the acquisition, retention and expansion of new and existing client relationships with entities from Mainland China. This position develops new business and client relationships and provides exceptional client service by taking ownership of the client experience from introducing the client to Cathay Bank through profiling the client, assessing their banking and borrowing needs, and recommending appropriate products based on a thorough knowledge of Cathay Bank’s products and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Accomplishes business development through aggressive sales efforts resulting in quality growth of client relationships and accounts.
• Ensures monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals are met (production goals are assigned based on corporate level).
• Spends bulk of the day out in the field prospecting business opportunities and turns them over to the appropriate support team members to finalize the details.
• Performs extensive cold calling in the field and generates business through referrals within network and follows up on leads.
• Builds a thorough profile for each client and maintains frequent personal, phone or email contact to grow and penetrate existing client relationships.
• Identify and profile target clients.
• Cross-sell bank products; refer existing and prospective clients to expand relationships and develop new business.
• Provides superior client service. Assume quality personalized client service. Maintains frequent client contact to expand relationships and ensure client retention. Refer clients to specialty departments as necessary.
• Support corporate lending new business promotions.
• Develop strategies to attract and retain clients.
• Conduct market research to understand trends, competition, and opportunities in the Greater China market.
• Maintain open communication with Bank sales team members, Financial Advisors, etc.
• Maintain an awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in the local market.
• Represent the Bank to actively participate in China related business functions and social activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: College degree with business classes preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience: 5 years’ experience in a bank environment with a minimum of 2 years’ demonstrated sales experience with proven results in addressing diverse client profiles and complex needs. Knowledgeable in banking products and services.
• Skills/Ability: The ability to identify client needs, present banking solutions and bank products. Recognize closing opportunities and retain and grow client relationships. Ability to initiate client contact through letters, email, telephone or personal contact. Possess excellent verbal communication skills, as well as an ability to exercise sound, independent judgment. Excellent presentation skills. Strong work ethic. Pro-active, innovative and driven. Possess excellent multi-tasking skills, working quickly and accurately to analyze information and make decisions as well as prioritize and perform a variety of concurrent tasks with minimal direction. Proficient in all Word and Excel software applications.

OTHER DETAILS
AVP: $81K – $95K / year
VP: $100K – $125K / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
