Organizational
Synchrony's Data Engineering team architects andoperatescloud-native data platforms and event-driven pipelines that process hundreds of millions of credit card transactions annually, delivering curated, trustworthy datasets to downstream consumers and operational systems with high availability and strong reliabilityrequirements.
We champion engineering rigor, data quality, and a platform-first mindsetacross real-time event streaming, batch orchestration, Lakehouse architecture, and AI-ready data products,leveragingcutting-edgeopen-source and cloud-native technologies.
Purpose:
Technicalleadfor developmentof multiple build projects to improve, enhance or add new functionality to Synchrony Data warehouse applications, as well as all run support activities. Provide technical oversight, process architecture, designexpertiseand guidance, interdepartmentalcoordination,and vendor direction for Synchrony Data warehouse application transformation efforts. This individual will work with development teamsutilizingmodern software development methodologies and tools to providebestsolution for Synchrony.
EssentialResponsibilities:
• Responsible for all components related to ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) build project deliverables.
• Oversee Vendor work on build projects; review designs to ensure project requirementsare met.
• Review and certify IT estimates, requirements, design,codingand testing deliverables.
• Oversee project validation (QA) and production promotion.
• Provide senior levelexpertisein technicaldisciplines used
• Ensure compliance with Data Governance, architecture,technologyand security standards set by SYF.
• Govern design strategy, production promotion processes, software change control specifically related to Ab Initio as well as DW technology.
• Drive effort to find ways to increase efficiency, minimize operatingexpenseand improve performance of all datawarehousesgather,storeand deliver functions.
• Interface regularly with the SYF Data Warehouse applications.
• Proactive communicationwith regard todeliverable status, issues, barriers, or challenges.
• Ensure preparation and maintenance ofappropriate technicaldocumentation including but not limited to program design document, process flows and test plan.
•Participatein addressing IR's/RCA'swithServiceDelivery team and provide direction in problem resolution.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in IT, ComputerScienceor MCA with at least 6 years of experience in data management.
Minimum of6years’ experience with ETL tools such as Abinitio.
Working experience in Agile software development methodologies.
Expertiseand/orproficiencyin the following: Unix Scripting, SQL, Software Version Control and Ab Initio.
Preferred exposure to the following Ab Initio tools: GDE – Graphical Development Environment; Co>Operating System; Control Center; Metadata Hub; Enterprise Meta>Environment; Enterprise Meta>Environment Portal; Acquire>It; Express>It; Conduct>It; Data Quality Environment; Query>It; Test Data Management.
Strong understanding of Database and Datawarehouse concepts.
Experience in Data Architecture and Data Modelling.
Experience in Data Management within the financial services industry.
Experience in BigDataand Cloud technologies.
Excellentpeople skillswith ability to influence clients, team members,management,and external groups.
Superior oral and written communication, analytic andcritical thinking skills

Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of IT experience or equivalent leadership program experience, or in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years of IT experience, experience in developing and implementing information systems and project managementexperience.

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timingsare anchoredto US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee tochoose(Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
