Job Description

Job Purpose

Reporting to the VP, Secured Credit Policy & Portfolio Management, the AVP will support the management of credit policies, portfolio risk oversight, and strategic risk initiatives across Wealth Management and secured lending portfolios.

The role is responsible for portfolio risk monitoring, credit policy governance, portfolio analytics, and risk advisory activities to ensure portfolio quality remains aligned with the Bank's risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and business objectives.

The successful candidate will provide risk insights, policy guidance, and portfolio recommendations while partnering closely with Business, Credit, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Finance, and Technology stakeholders to support sustainable portfolio growth and prudent risk management.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Portfolio Risk Management

  • Conduct portfolio monitoring, risk assessments, stress testing, scenario analysis, and portfolio reviews to identify emerging risks, concentration trends, collateral vulnerabilities, portfolio resilience issues, and performance deterioration.
  • Investigate portfolio risk issues, formulate risk mitigation recommendations, and escalate material concerns where appropriate.
  • Analyse portfolio trends, collateral performance, and risk concentrations to support portfolio strategy discussions and risk-informed decision-making.
  • Provide actionable portfolio insights and recommendations to support portfolio quality, sustainable growth, and alignment with the Bank's risk appetite.

Credit Policy & Governance

  • Support the development, maintenance, and periodic review of Wealth Management and secured lending credit policies, underwriting standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory developments, market changes, emerging risks, and business initiatives, and recommend policy enhancements where appropriate.
  • Provide credit policy guidance and advisory support on lending transactions, collateral structures, margin monitoring requirements, and policy exception requests.
  • Ensure policies and governance frameworks remain effective, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

Risk Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted partnerships with Business, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Technology, and other stakeholders to implement policy changes, portfolio initiatives, and risk management enhancements.
  • Provide independent risk perspectives and constructive challenge while balancing business growth objectives with prudent risk management.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to strengthen risk governance, controls, operational efficiency, and data quality.
  • Leverage data analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance portfolio monitoring, policy governance, risk reporting, and management information capabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accountancy, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant banking experience in Credit Risk, Credit Policy, Portfolio Management, Wealth Management Risk, or Consumer Banking Risk, with hands-on experience managing wealth management and secured lending portfolios, including Single Premium Insurance Financing, Investment Financing, Share Margin Financing, Mortgage Lending, or other collateralised credit facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, secured lending, collateral management, stress testing methodologies and risk governance frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and data management capabilities, with proficiency in tools e.g. Excel, SQL, SAS, Python or similar tools to generate portfolio insights, identify emerging risk and support effective portfolio risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, including experience presenting portfolio risk assessments and recommendations to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
