Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence during the onboarding, periodic and trigger review of customers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the execution and implementation of AML/KYC requirements in accordance with SMBC’s related AML policies and procedures.
  • Advise on complex cases and assess risk appetite boundaries in a continually evolving regulatory and business environment.
  • Provide AML/KYC advice to stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and expectations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and maintain AML-related compliance policies, procedures, manuals, checklists, and guidance to reflect regulatory developments and internal policy changes, including performing gap analysis on relevant circulars and industry papers.
  • Assist in designing and delivering targeted compliance training and awareness sessions for front office and support functions involved in AML/ KYC activities.
  • Prepare monthly statistical reports relating to KYC metrics for senior management.

Job Requirements

  • University degree or higher. Professional diplomas or certifications such as ACAMS or ICA are highly preferred.
  • Minimum of [6] years of experience in AML, KYC, or compliance within a bank, securities firm, financial institution, regulator, or professional services firm, with at least [3] years focused on AML/ KYC onboarding or periodic reviews.
  • Proven experience in managing high-risk clients and complex structures, with a strong understanding of Singapore AML/CFT regulations (including MAS notices and guidelines), and relevant industry standards (e.g. ACIP).
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with various stakeholders, with experience advising front office stakeholders and translating regulatory requirements into practical business guidance and controls.
  • Strong analytical, drafting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills – having good communications skills, with ability to navigate multiple organizations and find common ground.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, escalate issues appropriately, and work effectively under time pressure.
