About this Role

As a Branch Manager at First Bank, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations, sales performance, client experience, and employee development of a retail banking branch. Operating as a business owner, you will foster a team environment, instill a client-centric and risk-aware culture, and help clients achieve their financial goals through advice, solutions, and relationship management.

The Branch Manager combines leadership of branch operations with responsibility for sales performance, client relationship growth, business development, talent development, and risk management. You will ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and branch effectiveness while driving consumer and small business relationship growth and delivering an exceptional client experience.

In This Role You Will

Drive Profitability and Branch Growth

Lead, plan, and execute a branded sales process to achieve branch sales goals, client loyalty, and revenue growth.

  • Grow branch revenue through new client acquisition, relationship expansion, and share-of-wallet growth among consumer and business households.
  • Develop and execute branch business plans focused on sales, client retention, and relationship development.
  • Grow consumer and small business relationships through proactive client acquisition, referral generation, follow-up activities, and relationship deepening.
  • Manage branch performance using key sales, service, operational, and financial metrics.
  • Maintain a foundational understanding of branch financial performance, including revenue drivers, expense management, and profitability measures.

Business Development and Community Engagement

Effectively lead internal and external partnerships to drive branch growth and business banking results.

  • Build and maintain relationships within the local community to increase branch visibility and generate business opportunities.
  • Participate in community organizations, networking events, and business development activities.
  • Partner closely with internal business lines, including Mortgage, Commercial Banking, Treasury Management, Wealth Management, and Consumer Lending.
  • Create referral opportunities that strengthen client relationships and increase household growth.

Client Experience and Relationship Management

Ensure the delivery of a differentiated client experience across all branch interactions.

  • Coach associates to confidently engage clients in both traditional and technology-enabled interactions.
  • Lead needs-based conversations that identify opportunities to improve client financial well-being.
  • Deliver consultative financial solutions and recommendations that align with client needs.
  • Lead effective problem resolution and service recovery efforts.
  • Promote digital banking tools, self-service capabilities, and multi-channel banking solutions.
  • Connect clients with the full range of First Bank products and services through strategic referrals and relationship management.
  • Foster a client-first culture that builds trust, loyalty, and long-term relationships.

Leadership, Coaching, and Talent Development

Acquire, retain, and develop top talent through effective leadership and coaching.

  • Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop team members to support both individual and branch success.
  • Provide ongoing coaching focused on sales effectiveness, client experience, operational excellence, and professional development.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures.
  • Hold team members accountable for achieving sales, service, operational, and compliance objectives.
  • Build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-performing branch culture.
  • Support succession planning and talent development efforts.

Compliance, Risk, and Branch Operations

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to all bank policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a strong risk management and compliance culture throughout the branch.
  • Ensure operational excellence and adherence to established controls and security procedures.
  • Monitor branch activities to ensure regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making to identify, mitigate, and escalate risk when appropriate.
  • Maintain responsibility for branch security, cash controls, operational procedures, and overall branch administration.
  • Lead the branch in balancing sales growth, operational effectiveness, client service, and risk management.

Qualifications, Competencies and Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive banking, financial services, retail sales, relationship management, or related experience.
  • Minimum of three years of sales leadership or sales management experience, including planning, goal setting, performance tracking, reporting, coaching, and execution.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, acquire new clients, and grow existing client relationships.
  • Strong sales, business development, and networking skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of retail banking products, services, and client relationship management principles.
  • Strong operational, risk management, and compliance knowledge.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, business metrics, and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with clients, employees, management, and community partners.
  • Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Must possess or obtain all licenses and registrations required to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Compliance Requirements

As part of the employment process for this position, candidates must successfully complete all required background and credit screening requirements.

This position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements.

Must be registered under the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) or become registered upon hire and maintain registration throughout employment.

Compensation Disclosure

The range for this role takes into account many factors that First Bank considers when making hiring decisions, including but not limited to prior experience, skill set, training, and other internal business and organizational factors. First Bank generally does not hire at or near the top of the stated range. The range is driven by the geographic location of the anticipated hiring location; however, the specific range may vary depending on the geographic location for remote positions. Compensation decisions depend on the specific facts and circumstances of each hiring instance.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $69,000 - $87,000, annually.
