Why Join

We are looking for candidates with management consulting or in-house strategy experiences to work on different Greater China and Hong Kong level strategic initiatives across Businesses and Functions:

  • Lead or support strategic business studies, derive actionable insights and make appropriate recommendations to senior management

  • Lead or support decision-making process and governance of major strategic initiatives

  • Support key activities of Greater China Strategic Planning and HK CEO office including presentation materials for external and internal meetings, relationship management with key external and industry bodies and monitoring of business results; advocate and facilitate cross-business collaborations

What you do

  • Develop a strategic point of view and formalize strategy papers (as strategist, stream lead, or project manager)

  • Support governance process and agenda setting through committee meetings and other programme management tools to drive, mobilise and monitor the Bank’s progress of strategy implementation

  • Support hypothesis-led analysis for discussions and recommend strategic options for consideration by senior management related to strategy and business performance improvement

  • Mobilize and collaborate with businesses and functions within Greater China (and other Group markets if necessary) to devise strategic initiatives, manage implementation, monitor performance and support issue resolution

  • Be trusted advisors to working partners and conduct credible challenge on all strategy development and execution issues, through daily working relationship and participation in various committees

  • Nurture relationship with external parties including industry associations and mobilize collaboration and participation by the Bank’s relevant departments

  • Provide support to enable Head of Greater China & CEO of OCBC HK, and/or other senior management’s effective and efficient execution of management agenda, communications, and other issue resolution

  • Support transformation program delivery (in partnership with business stakeholders) as needed

  • Contribute to team development (knowledge development, training etc.)

  • This role reports to Head of Greater China Strategic Planning and HK CEO Office


Who you are

  • University degree with good knowledge in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACCA, HKICPA, CB, CFA, and FRM an asset

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic planning or business management function, preferably in international or regional banks or financial institutions. Solid experience in Greater China markets is a plus

  • Strong consulting (in-house or external) background with excellent generalist problem-solving skills with strong conceptual, highly structured and analytical capabilities to deal with ambiguities

  • Able to communicate (both verbally and in written) and deliver presentation to all levels of staff (including C-suite) and to work well across teams within and outside the Bank

  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong research and strategy projects experience with strong communication and presentation skills

  • Strong ability to articulate concepts and complex ideas in a clear and impactful manner

  • Project management skill with a track record in leading and mobilising cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities

  • Strong influence skills with track record of influencing decision and opinions of others especially senior stakeholders

  • Passionate about driving change. Having a curious mind to challenge status quo and provide innovative solutions

  • Highly organized, and able to multi-task

  • Intelligent self-starter with resilience and resourcefulness

  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective internal customer service processes

  • Well-versed in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin
