Job Description

The AVP of Architecture & Common Services will be responsible for defining, architecting, developing, and governing the API layer, orchestration platform, integration frameworks, and core systems enablement layer that power all digital products, customer experience platforms, operational platforms, and data platforms across the enterprise. As a key member of the technology leadership team, the AVP will ensure scalable, secure, and composable architecture that supports rapid innovation, M&A integration, and business growth in a highly distributed automotive services ecosystem. This role is foundational to enabling the company’s transformation into a fully connected automotive services platform, where all customer, dealer, fleet, and partner interactions are unified through scalable APIs and intelligent orchestration layers.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

  • Define and evolve the enterprise architecture strategy aligned to business goals, growth, and digital transformation.
  • Establish architectural standards, reference architectures, and governance models across all business units.
  • Drive transition from monolithic/legacy systems toward modular, API-first, cloud-native architectures.

API Platform Ownership

  • Own the enterprise API strategy, including internal, partner, and public APIs.
  • Lead development of a secure, scalable API gateway and management platform.
  • Establish API lifecycle governance (design, versioning, security, deprecation).
  • Enable ecosystem connectivity across dealers, OEMs, suppliers, insurers, and mobility partners.

Orchestration & Integration Platform

  • Lead the design and implementation of a real-time orchestration layer supporting business workflows.
  • Define integration architecture across SaaS, legacy systems, and third-party automotive data providers.
  • Drive event-driven architecture adoption (streaming, messaging, pub/sub models).
  • Ensure resilience, observability, and fault tolerance across distributed systems.

Systems Architecture & Modernization

  • Lead modernization of legacy automotive systems
  • Define migration strategies to cloud-native platforms.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to decompose monolithic systems into domain-aligned services.

Education and Experience

  • 15+ years in software engineering and architecture roles, with at least 7+ years in senior leadership positions.
  • Proven experience leading architecture and development
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture, API-first and microservices architectures, Event-driven systems, Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Strong background in building and scaling platform teams.
  • Experience modernizing large legacy enterprise systems.
  • Experience in high-growth, PE-backed, or publicly traded companies.
  • M&A integration experience.
  • Experience building developer platforms or API monetization ecosystems.
