Job Title

AVP and Global Business Head, Discovery ServicesAVP- Discovery Services will be responsible for leading and directing the Discovery Services function globally as well as driving / implementing strategies to position Piramal as a leader in Drug Discovery Services. The role has significant interface to external customers while working closely with key internal stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE:

•Strong leadership and management abilities

•Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills; thrives in a cross-functional team environment

•Experience and demonstrated success at a senior leadership position in Drug Discovery at a biotech, large pharma or contract research services setting

•Extensive working knowledge of various aspects of small molecule drug discoveryfrom target ID to IND-enabling studies and modalities includingPROTACs, Molecular Glues, Nucleic Acids, Peptides

•Knowledge of emerging research areas including Artificial Intelligence and its relevance in the drug discovery process

•Experience of managing integrated drug discovery programs and consistently meeting project timelines and deliverables

•Highly developed technical skills combined with deep client knowledge and business & marketing acumen

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

•Drive and implement the overall strategy to help position Piramal as a leading provider of Drug Discovery Services globally

•Identify gaps in the current offerings and devise a plan in line with the current market needs to address the gaps and oversee implementation of the approved plan

•Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues across multiple cross functional projects(chemistry, biology & DMPK) and lead the drug discovery teams to cross-functional solutions to drive project decision making

•Lead productive discussions on key scientific and strategic issues with internal (operations and business development leadership) and external (customer) stakeholders

•Partner with the business development team to better position our scientific capabilities to customers/ prospects

•Benchmark with industry peers and implement new modalities (e.g. oligos, peptides), technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence) and best practices to enable the pipeline, enhance efficiency and drive long term success of Piramal`s discovery services

•Represent Piramal at key scientific conferences to promote discovery services

•Lead interactions with critical cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., API & Drug Product R&D functions) to enable smooth transitioning of programs from discovery to development.
