We’re actively seeking a talented AVP Actuary, PRT Pricing Operations and Post Sale Management to join our PRT Pricing Team in Newport Beach, CA; Omaha, NE; or Charlotte, NC. This role follows a hybrid schedule of four days in the office (on-site). If you are not currently located near one of our offices, we offer comprehensive relocation assistance.

As a AVP Actuary, PRT Pricing Operations and Post Sale Management you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by overseeing the operational effectiveness and strategic evolution of Pacific Life's PRT pricing operating model. The position will lead post sale initiatives including the repricing process, contracting support, operational coordination, and pricing transformation efforts, while also serving as a technical subject matter expert to the PRT Pricing organization.

You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 15 people in the Institutional division. Your colleagues will include Actuaries and fellow PRT Pricing professionals. You will partner closely with Pricing, Sales Enablement & Implementation (SE&I), Legal, Finance, Valuation, and Technology teams to support the continued growth, scalability, and profitability of the PRT business. This role combines business leadership, actuarial expertise, operational insight, and strategic execution to improve how Pacific Life manages its PRT business and supports future growth.

How you’ll help move us forward:

Post Sale Pricing & Management

  • Lead oversight of post-sale pricing & management of Pacific Life's PRT transactions
  • Own the end-to-end post-sale management partnering with SE&I, Operations, Product, Finance, Valuation & Legal to support the effective administration and ongoing management of sold business
  • Create framework, governance and oversight of PRT repricing activities, including evaluation of post-sale changes that may result in premium adjustments, refunds, or additional premium collections
  • Establish, enhance, and oversee repricing methodologies, tools, controls, and operational processes, while providing technical review and strategic guidance as processes mature

PRT Contracting & Operations Liaison

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the PRT Pricing organization, Operations, Legal, and SEI teams
  • Review Group Annuity Contracts (GACs), buy-in agreements, and transaction-specific contractual provisions to assess operational feasibility, pricing implications, and profitability impacts, translating into pricing impacts when necessary
  • Provide expertise on complex benefit structures, non-standard plan provisions, administrative considerations, and implementation challenges when evaluating PRT opportunities
  • Support implementation and onboarding activities for complex transactions where actuarial and business expertise are required

Technical Pricing Leadership & SME Support

  • Serve as a senior Pension Risk Transfer subject matter expert for the PRT Pricing organization
  • Provide technical guidance and consultation to pricing actuaries on complex, unique, and non-standard transactions
  • Support development and enhancement of pricing methodologies, analytical frameworks, and pricing best practices
  • Provide independent challenges, insights, and recommendations on pricing assumptions based on industry knowledge and emerging experience
  • Mentor and develop pricing team members by sharing technical expertise and market knowledge

Business Transformation, Data & Innovation

  • Lead strategic initiatives designed to improve scalability, efficiency, and profitability across the PRT business
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and modernize actuarial and business processes
  • Provide business oversight for the PRT Snowflake data platform and future data modernization initiatives
  • Champion AI-enabled solutions that improve pricing operations, profitability management, reporting, analytics, and decision-making
  • Drive governance and business adoption of new technologies and operational capabilities
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence across the PRT organization

The experience you bring:

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience
  • Minimum 5 years of direct Pension Risk Transfer Pricing experience
  • Strong understanding of PRT pricing methodologies, transaction structures, and industry practices
  • Prior experience in PRT pricing, product development, inforce management, or related actuarial leadership roles
  • Experience evaluating and defending actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and recommendations with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional initiatives within a matrixed environment
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with execution and operational leadership

What makes you stand out:

  • Enrolled Actuary (EA) designation
  • Significant experience with Pension Risk Transfer transaction pricing
  • Experience supporting buy-in transactions and complex contractual negotiations
  • Deep understanding of cash balance plans, lump sum windows, deferred populations, and other specialized liabilities
  • Experience with the reprice process, profitability monitoring, and inforce management
  • Experience leading large-scale business transformation initiatives
  • Knowledge of actuarial modeling platforms, including Prophet
  • Experience with Snowflake, data modernization initiatives, or AI-enabled business solutions
  • Proven ability to serve as a technical leader while effectively partnering across actuarial, operational, legal, and business functions
  • Track record of driving operational excellence, process improvements, and scalable business solutions

Base Salary Range: $220,000 - $250,000

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
