Full Time, Permanent

The Aviation Support Manager is responsible for leading the Aviation Support Unit and ensuring the effective delivery of aviation support services across Microflite operations. The role provides leadership, workforce planning, operational oversight and resource management for Aviation Support Officers (Cadets) and the Refuelling Coordinator, ensuring aviation support resources, equipment, logistics and
refuelling services remain available and operationally ready to support safe, compliant and efficient aircraft operations. The Aviation Support Manager maintains key internal and external stakeholder relationships across Microflite locations, supports remote operations, and drives continuous improvement in aviation support service delivery.

What You’ll Do:

This is a leadership role focused on building capability, ensuring operational readiness, and driving continuous improvement across Microflite's aviation support and refuelling functions.

  • Lead and manage Aviation Support Officers (Cadets) and the Refuelling Coordinator, including performance management, mentoring and operational support.
  • Oversee rostering, workforce planning, leave management and utilisation across the Aviation Support Unit to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor staffing requirements and develop workforce frameworks that can expand and
    contract in line with operational demand.
  • Conduct performance reviews, probation reviews and development activities, while supporting succession planning and capability development within the Aviation Support Unit.
  • Ensure aviation support services are effectively delivered to support aircraft operations across all Microflite locations and remote operations.
  • Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation activities for operational deployments, ensuring equipment, logistics and operational resources are adequately supported.
  • Lead the management and lifecycle planning of aviation support equipment, ensuring operational readiness, compliance and effective resource utilisation.
  • Oversee equipment servicing, maintenance, inspections and replacement activities, while maintaining accurate records relating to equipment status, servicing and compliance requirements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Refuelling Coordinator, ensuring fuel infrastructure, fuel stores and refuelling resources remain compliant and operationally ready.
  • Identify and implement improvements across aviation support, logistics and refuelling functions, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Lead the Aviation Support Officer (Cadet) Program, including development planning, mentoring, departmental rotations and progression monitoring.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with airport operators, fuel suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to support operational delivery.
  • Support operational planning and readiness activities to ensure aviation support resources are available to meet operational requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading operational, logistics, aviation support, transport, emergency services or ground operations teams.
  • Proven experience in workforce planning, rostering and resource management.
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed or remote teams.
  • Strong understanding of aviation support operations, equipment management and operational logistics.
  • Demonstrated experience managing facilities, operational resources, infrastructure or support services.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Strong administrative, organisational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Experience leading teams across multiple locations or operational environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop emerging talent.
  • Aviation experience desirable but not essential for candidates with strong logistics, emergency services, transport or operational leadership backgrounds.
