We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Aviation Superintendent to join our team in Gabon. This role is responsible for supervising Assala's aviation services and facilities, including airports and Jet A-1 refuelling operations, while overseeing daily aviation activities and contractor performance. The Aviation Superintendent also acts as the deputy to the Head of Aviation (HOA) during periods of absence.
The purpose of this position is to support the delivery and management of safe, reliable, and cost-effective aviation services that meet the operational requirements of Assala. The role ensures compliance with all applicable national, international, and Assala aviation standards and requirements, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement in safety, operational performance, and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all aviation services provided are delivered safely, with risks identified, assessed, and maintained at a level that is As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).
- Assist in monitoring the effectiveness of the Aviation Department's Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Social Management System (HSSE-MS), as well as aviation contractor operations.
- Support the delivery of aviation services within the annual budget
- Coordinate the provision of approved aviation services to meet the operational requirements.
- Monitor and follow up on actions arising from HSSE audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure timely closure.
- Provide aviation-related input into the Head of Aviation (HOA) budget, Safe Plan, Business Plan, and Internal Audit Plan.
- Ensure robust aviation monitoring, reporting, and record-keeping systems are maintained and implemented effectively.
- Perform designated HSE-critical tasks in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Maintain effective relationships and ongoing engagement with government authorities and regulatory bodies responsible for aviation operations.
- Ensure all aviation activities comply with the latest Assala Aircraft standards, as well as applicable national and international aviation regulations.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in aviation safety, operational performance, compliance, and service delivery.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years' experience within the aviation industry, ideally in aviation operations, management, or support services.
- Strong knowledge of Exploration & Production (E&P) HSSE standards, safety management systems, and HSSE Management Systems (HSSE-MS) as applied to aviation operations.
- Sound understanding of Assala Aircraft aviation standards and applicable international aviation requirements.
- Good knowledge of airport operational requirements, standards, and best practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international and local aviation regulations, standards, and practices governing the operation and maintenance of aircraft.
- Awareness and understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with experience in supervising and coordinating personnel.
- Commercially aware, with experience in budget management and cost control considered advantageous.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems, with SAP experience preferred
