JANUS Research Group is seeking an Aviation Military Analyst with expertise in Army Group 4 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to support Army Aviation capability development, operational analysis, requirements generation, and modernization initiatives. The selected candidate will provide subject matter expertise on tactical UAS operations, concept development, capability assessments, and future force planning in support of Army Aviation and Department of Defense programs.

This position requires an experienced Army Aviation professional with operational and/or requirements development experience who can independently develop analytical products, evaluate emerging UAS capabilities, and provide recommendations to senior government leadership.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Army Group 4 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operations, doctrine, and capability development.
  • Conduct operational analyses supporting Army UAS modernization, force development, and future capability initiatives.
  • Develop white papers, concept papers, operational concepts, requirements documents, operational views, and technical analyses supporting government objectives.
  • Support Army UAS capability development efforts in accordance with the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Analyze operational capability gaps and develop recommendations to improve UAS mission effectiveness and operational readiness.
  • Support development and assessment of DOTMLPF-P solutions for Army UAS capabilities.
  • Participate in UAS modeling, simulation, experimentation, and concept development activities.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and operational assessments supporting future UAS programs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for Army UAS modernization initiatives.
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, operational units, and technical teams to support capability development and requirements generation.
  • Independently develop graduate-level technical products requiring minimal government revisions.
  • Prepare and deliver technical briefings and analytical findings to senior military and government leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years of Army Aviation tactical experience
  • Former Senior Army Aviator, Senior Army UAS Operator, or Senior Army UAS Maintainer
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in one or both of the following:
    • Army UAS capability development within a requirements management organization supporting JCIDS documentation (e.g., Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), Capability Development Documents (CDD), Abbreviated Capability Development Documents (A-CDD), or similar requirements activities).
    • Tactical Army Aviation organizations conducting Group 4 UAS operations, including management of:
      • Flight operations
      • Mission planning and execution
      • Flight scheduling
      • Maintenance scheduling
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop graduate-level technical products, including:
    • White papers
    • Concept papers
    • Requirements documents
    • Operational views
    • Technical analyses
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to brief senior military and government leadership.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting DOTMLPF-P Solutions Assessments.
  • Experience performing UAS Cost-Benefit Analyses
  • Experience supporting UAS Modeling, Simulation, and Experimentation activities.
  • Experience developing UAS Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Experience supporting Army Aviation modernization and future force initiatives.
  • Experience supporting Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA), Army Futures Command, or Army Aviation capability development organizations.
  • Familiarity with Joint force development, capability requirements generation, and Army acquisition processes.
  • Experience collaborating with operational units, government agencies, and multidisciplinary technical teams.
