Aviation Mechanic
C-130 Hercules
Starting at $39 hourly
Trenton Base, Canada

The Aviation Mechanic installs, inspects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and performs maintenance on the aircraft.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs operational checks, maintenance, bench checks, troubleshoots, and isolates malfunctions on aircraft.

  • Uses complex and specialized test equipment to perform operational checks.

  • Repairs or replaces components based on test results following blueprints, schematics, handbooks, and other technical documents.

  • Performs calibration, repair, and replacement of system components and parts.

  • Practices good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety at all times.

  • Annotates maintenance actions in aircraft records.

  • Maintains working knowledge of technical publications and aircraft maintenance applications.

  • Must be capable and willing to execute standard aircraft maintenance tasks as part of daily operations.

Other or Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Ability to isolate problems and troubleshoot systems.

  • Working knowledge of aircraft components.

  • Ability to interpret schematic diagrams, engineering drawings, and charts of assigned systems.

  • Working knowledge of all standard test equipment and maintenance procedures.

  • Working knowledge of technical orders and maintenance forms.

  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Ability to obtain a control goods clearance.

Experience & Education

  • High School degree or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years recent experience in the repair of aircraft avionics, com/nav, or instrument systems of the C-130 aircraft. Four (4) years preferred.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

  • May work in aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.

  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.

  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.

  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee, and reach above/below shoulders.

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, and identify small objects and hand tools.

  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings, and other small scales.

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.

  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.

  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, APU, etc.

  • The salary range provided reflects the value of the company’s base pay compensation for the location and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
