Job Title: AVEVA Process Simulation - Model Engineer

Location: Hyderabad, India

Employment Type: full-time

The job

AVEVA Process Simulation (APS) is an integrated platform for engineers and operators to innovate across the entire process life cycle—design, simulation, training, and operations.
In this role with the AVEVA Process Simulation team, you will use your chemical engineering expertise to build reusable models of various process equipment. You will also be responsible for software validation and providing technical customer support.

Key responsibilities

  • Model Development & Testing - Define the governing equations for chemical engineering operations, develop the corresponding models in APS, and then execute comprehensive tests to verify their accuracy and reliability.
  • Product Testing & Automation - Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for the PROII simulation software to ensure product quality and reliability. Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks to improve the efficiency and coverage of the testing process.
  • Requirements Analysis & Refinement - Collaborate with product managers and architects to understand and refine product requirements.
  • Customer Support - Investigate and troubleshoot customer-reported issues with the APS. Provide timely and effective technical support to customers, including workarounds and solutions to their problems.​

Essential requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree (BE/B.Tech) in Chemical Engineering is required, with an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) being highly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in core chemical engineering principles and process modeling.
  • 5+ years of experience as Process Engineer or Techincal Support Engineer in Refineries, Chemical Plants or EPC Consultancy.
  • Familiarity and/or working knowledge of AVEVA Process Simulation is desirable.
  • Experience or a strong interest in software development, with an eagerness to acquire new skills in modern software development and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent written, verbal presentation and graphical communication skills with great depth of experience of collateral development, formal documentation, presentation development and delivery.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences with the ability to be succinct and concise.
  • Good communication skills with the desire to work with a dispersed team across multiple time zones
  • Attention to detail, diligent and tenacious.
  • Excellent analysis and dissemination skills.
  • High degree of personal motivation and ability to self-manage.
  • Maintains and develops relevant industry knowledge.

Desired skills and competencies

  • Experience working in Agile software development is desirable
  • Coding abilities are highly desirable (C#, Scripting, etc.)

Hybrid working
