Job Description

Desktop Architect / Lead Engineer

The Desktop Platform Experience Architect will lead the transformation of the organization's end-user computing environment, with a strong focus on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 11 modernization, and overall employee experience. This individual will provide both strategic architecture leadership and hands-on engineering execution to redesign and optimize the desktop experience across virtual and physical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and redesign the current Azure Virtual Desktop ecosystem to improve performance, stability, usability, and supportability.

Lead the Windows 10 to Windows 11 migration strategy for virtual desktop environments.

Define and implement a long-term EUC roadmap focused on improving employee productivity and user satisfaction.

Architect and support integrations between Azure Virtual Desktop, physical endpoints, Microsoft 365, Intune, Autopilot, Nerdio, FlexApp, and FSLogix.

Investigate and resolve complex desktop engineering issues including connectivity, authentication, application delivery, profile management, and Microsoft 365 user experience challenges.

Identify root causes of recurring end-user issues and establish sustainable solutions rather than temporary workarounds.

Partner directly with business users and stakeholders to understand pain points and build confidence in IT's ability to improve the user experience.

Provide leadership, guidance, and technical direction to other desktop engineering resources.

Develop architecture standards, technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures.

Drive projects from initial assessment through design, deployment, optimization, and operational transition.

Collaborate with networking, infrastructure, security, and service desk teams to troubleshoot and improve end-user computing services.

Serve as a technical advocate capable of challenging existing approaches and driving modernization initiatives.

Required Skills
