The Opportunity

This role sits at the centre of how we build and deliver the Avaloq banking platform for Private Banking. You’ll oversee end-to-end Avaloq delivery across a global engineering set-up, covering design through to deployment and run-the-bank outcomes. The role brings together hands-on platform understanding with modern delivery practices across Agile and DevOps. Success means reliable delivery of projects, minor enhancements and backlog items while improving release frequency, quality and production stability. You’ll also strengthen engineering capability through recruitment, talent management and location strategy in partnership with the Head of Engineering Banking Platform. Risk control, governance and adherence to mandatory training expectations are part of the day-to-day.

What you'll be doing

• Own Avaloq deliveries for the stream and oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle across design, development, testing and deployment
• Set engineering standards across code quality, documentation and compliance with development standards, best practices and quality guidelines
• Coordinate delivery across projects, minor enhancements and RTB backlog using Agile and DevOps ways of working
• Build capability across global engineering teams with a direct reporting line to the Head of Engineering Banking Platform
• Shape the automation strategy in partnership with the Test Manager
• Govern risk, control and governance expectations including identifying risks, threats and deficiencies in key controls
• Manage local engineering responsibilities including recruitment, retention, training, talent management, career management and local administration
• Handle local Avaloq-related escalations including incident resolution and management as the single point of contact

What we're looking for

• Bring deep, hands-on experience customising and implementing the Avaloq Banking System
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of Avaloq alongside Agile and DevOps delivery approaches and team management practices
• Apply proven understanding of Private Banking domains and related product areas such as finance, trade, client reporting, cash management and risk
• Contribute to high-level architecture and system design including interfaces, EOD and deployment automation across satellite systems
• Use scripting capability in languages such as PL SQL
• Apply working knowledge of Unix and Control-m
• Evidence delivery of sustainable change that improves business effectiveness aligned to an approved book of work
• Communicate clearly in writing and in person with experience influencing stakeholders through complex technical decisions including in ambiguity
