AV Specialist

Location: Alexandria, VA

Our Information Technology (IT) Department consists of over 30 IT professionals across the full spectrum of IT disciplines: end user support, systems administration, network operations, cybersecurity, classified systems administration, audio/visual and policy & compliance. The audio/visual (AV) team provides technical oversight, operational support and maintenance of the AV systems in critical SPA meeting and conference spaces. The AV team is a small unit supporting 30+ conference rooms across 6 office locations in the DC metro area, including our premier 12-floor headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Our objective is to support our colleagues and customers through the modernization and sustainment of SPA’s meeting and collaboration AV systems in the national capital region (Northern Virginia and Washington DC).

Responsibilities of the AV Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:

• The AV Specialist will be the first point of contact to resolve AV support requests submitted through the corporate ticketing system
• Field lead for AV infrastructure installations and repair efforts, including, but not limited to:
• Work under the guidance of the AV Manager to implement and maintain secure AV solutions
• Local travel to support installation and repair efforts, including special events support, at regional offices
• Maintain room documentation to include user guides, service records and equipment/material inventories
• Perform preventative maintenance schedules for conference rooms and AV system infrastructure

Required Qualifications:

• US citizenship, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance are required
• 3+ years of experience as an AV field technician performing full scope installations of permanent AV infrastructure and conferencing solutions
• Experience operating and troubleshooting fully integrated VTC systems, including video distribution systems with various degrees of complexity
• Experience with direct end-user and/or customer support troubleshooting QSYS and Crestron conference room AV systems
• Ability to regularly lift heavy equipment or materials (up to 50lbs)
• High school diploma

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity configuring and troubleshooting AV equipment via QSYS Designer (Crestron is a plus)
• Experience configuring USB bridging to AV systems for use with soft-codec conferencing applications (e.g. MS Teams or Zoom)
• Manufacturer certifications from Crestron, QSC, Extron, Biamp or Shure
