AV Installation Technician (Radio Shop)
Location: Texarkana, TX Area (Onsite)
Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required
Seeking an AV Installation Technician (Radio Shop) to support audiovisual, communications, and conference room installation projects in the Texarkana, TX area. This position is ideal for a hands-on technician with experience installing equipment, running cabling, mounting displays, and supporting AV systems in commercial, industrial, or government environments.
A United States Citizenship and an active Secret DoD Security Clearance are required for consideration.
Responsibilities
AV Installation & Physical Setup
- Install, mount, and connect televisions, projectors, speakers, displays, video conferencing equipment, and related AV hardware.
- Pull, route, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling including Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, HDMI, coax, and other communication cables.
- Mount TVs, monitors, speakers, equipment racks, wall plates, and brackets according to installation standards.
- Build, wire, organize, and label AV and network equipment racks.
- Install cable pathways through ceilings, walls, conduit, and other building infrastructure.
- Assist with equipment deliveries, staging, setup, relocation, and deployment activities.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and testing of installed systems to verify functionality.
Operational Support
- Support conference rooms, meeting spaces, training rooms, and communication systems.
- Assist users with basic AV equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Maintain accurate installation documentation and cable labeling.
- Coordinate with project leads and customers to ensure installations are completed properly and on schedule.
- Support equipment inventory and asset tracking activities.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve basic AV, cabling, and connectivity issues.
- Replace or repair damaged cables, connectors, displays, and related hardware.
- Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 1+ years of experience supporting AV installations, low-voltage cabling, telecommunications, IT hardware deployments, or related technical work.
- Experience pulling, terminating, labeling, and testing network or AV cabling.
- Experience mounting TVs, monitors, projectors, or other hardware.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, cable testers, and installation equipment.
- Basic understanding of networking and connectivity concepts.
- Ability to follow drawings, diagrams, installation instructions, and technical documentation.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting conference rooms, multimedia systems, or video conferencing technologies.
- Experience working in government, military, commercial, or industrial environments.
- Familiarity with AV equipment, structured cabling, and communications systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, catwalks, crawl spaces, and above-ceiling environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in physically demanding installation environments.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, drills, crimpers, and cable termination tools.
- Willingness to perform hands-on installation work daily, including pulling cables, mounting TVs, installing hardware, and moving equipment.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical training or related experience preferred.
Clearance
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must successfully pass all required background investigations and maintain clearance eligibility throughout employment.
Note: This is a hands-on installation role. Technicians should expect to spend time pulling cable, mounting televisions and displays, installing equipment, building racks, and performing physical AV system deployments.
