JOB SUMMARY:

The AV Engineer is responsible for designing, documenting, testing and commissioning of audio and video systems in a variety of settings. They will be expected to use an array of technical knowledge to strategically plan, design and implement the best equipment installations and operations at various live events. The core focus for this position is performance audio installations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Perform site surveys to assist sales with proper quoting of projects and operations with anticipating delivery needs. Evaluate site conditions, take appropriate measurements, and understand customer requirements to produce a clear outline of the scope of work and technical requirements.
• Lead design, engineering and production of the overall project design documentation as required
• Provide clients with equipment recommendations
• Understand A/V drawings to include floor plans, room details, rigging details, functional diagrams, and others as needed
• Continue to maintain technical capabilities and certifications as determined for the role
• Assist with CAD related tasks as required to include creating project drawing or as-built packages, documentation and/or file management
• Understand project scope of work, equipment, specifications, and shop drawing
• Perform on site job visits to review installations, perform system testing and verification, confirm equipment configuration, system programming test out, system turn on, acceptance and commissioning, and client training as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate's degree in Audio, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field- preferred
• 3-7 years experience in AV engineering, installation, operation, and control systems integration and commissioning
• AVIXA CTS certification, or CTS-I certification preferred
• OSHA 10 or 30 hour preferred

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:

• Thorough understanding of design, integration, and operation of Audio and Video systems
• Ability to read shop drawings, material lists, and documents that support the construction/installation, and commissioning phases of a project
• Thorough understanding of network topology and protocols
• Experience in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to assist others and communicate effectively in person and over the phone
• Ability to work on and navigate a job site
• Ability to apply critical thinking and have a flexible schedule as needed to serve the client's needs

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• May require 30-70% travel
