Job Description:

Position Overview

Think of yourself as the architect of fleet readiness and the champion of operational excellence. As a Team Lead, you will manage the day-to-day operations of your team, ensuring each of your teammates delivers on their Service Level Agreement (SLA) and achieves their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). You will act as a bridge between your team and other departments, coaching and managing specialists to hit continuous performance goals.

You will lead a high-performing team through complex transitions, developing their technical and analytical capabilities to provide a seamless experience. Your leadership directly impacts the safety and efficiency of the fleet, ensuring that every vehicle meets the highest standards before it enters the field.

In this 24/7/365 environment, you will oversee a structured DuPont Shift Schedule, managing rotational matrices to ensure flawless continuity and coverage. You will be the definitive vanguard for operational command during your shift, managing handovers and shift vigilance to prevent burnout and ensure reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management: Directly manage, mentor, and coach a team of specialists across multiple shifts. Conduct regular performance reviews, team huddles, and coaching sessions to drive accountability and professional growth.
  • Operational Execution & QA: Oversee depot processes, including sensor calibration and pre-deployment quality checks. Establish daily audits to ensure 100% compliance with SOPs and the highest standards for vehicle safety and technical performance.
  • Incident Escalation: Serve as the primary point of contact for high-impact fleet incidents. Review sensor streams and environmental context to deliver authoritative decisions, such as approving fallback paths or commanding minimal risk maneuvers.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the operational anchor between field teams and central stakeholders, including Software Engineering and Dispatch. Provide weekly reporting of KPI metrics and performance feedback to the Operations Manager.
  • Workforce Planning: Create and manage daily staffing plans and shift rotations. Ensure appropriate coverage for 24/7 operations while balancing cost efficiency and adhering to fatigue management protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within high-stakes, tech-enabled, or safety-critical environments (e.g., mobility, logistics, or AV support).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (Google Sheets) and experience using operations management software or dashboards to drive decisions.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Exceptional analytical skills with a history of using data to implement corrective action plans and lead root-cause analysis (RCA).

Preferred Skills & Traits

  • Experience in safety-critical roles
  • Strong communication skills (you will be the "eyes and ears" for software engineers).
  • A "Safety First" mentality—prioritizing the public's well-being over meeting a delivery ETA.

Physical & Work Environment

  • Shift Work: Must be able to maintain a healthy sleep-wake cycle while rotating between day and night shifts.
  • Confined Space: Comfort spending extended periods in a vehicle cab equipped with additional computer hardware and monitors.
  • Weather: Experience driving in diverse climates, including snow, heavy rain, and high winds, to test system boundaries.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (higher than standard operational roles due to the technical nature of the role).
  • Full benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k).
  • The opportunity to be at the forefront of the transportation revolution.
