AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Our client, a leading organization within Jamaica’s automotive industry, is seeking qualified and motivated Automotive Service Technicians to join its service operations team.
The successful candidates will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing motor vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications, established quality standards and workshop procedures.
This opportunity is suited to technicians who have completed at least a Level 2 automotive qualification or equivalent and have gained practical experience within an automotive service or repair environment. Key Responsibilities
• Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and established quality and efficiency standards.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and related vehicle faults and determine the appropriate corrective action.
• Read and accurately action job cards, paying close attention to repair instructions and required work.
• Inspect vehicles and identify additional maintenance, repair or safety concerns requiring attention.
• Communicate additional work identified during servicing or repairs to the appropriate supervisor before proceeding.
• Ensure that all required work is properly clarified and authorized prior to commencement.
• Identify and request required parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications and repair instructions.
• Complete assigned repairs within manufacturer stipulated repair times while maintaining appropriate standards of workmanship.
• Use appropriate tools, testing equipment and diagnostic systems to support accurate fault identification and repair.
• Complete all required documentation and technical write ups accurately following completion of work.
• Follow established warranty procedures and parts handling protocols where applicable.
• Conduct post repair checks and road tests where required to confirm that work has been completed successfully.
• Maintain tools, equipment, work stalls and work areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Adhere to all workshop safety requirements, standard operating procedures and company policies.
• Attend technical and manufacturer training as required, including online and face to face training.
• Where required, provide guidance and technical support to apprentice technicians while ensuring the quality of work performed.
• Work collaboratively with service advisors, workshop supervisors, parts personnel and other technicians to support efficient workshop operations.
• Consistently work toward established productivity, efficiency and quality targets.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum Level 2 automotive qualification, certification or equivalent technical training is required.
• At least one year of practical experience working in automotive servicing, maintenance or repair is preferred.
• Level 3 automotive qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.
• Local or internationally recognized Automotive Technician certification is required.
• Practical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and mechanical repair.
• Ability to accurately follow technical instructions and manufacturer repair procedures.
• Experience using automotive diagnostic and testing equipment would be an advantage.
• Previous experience within an authorized dealership, established service centre or structured automotive workshop would be advantageous.
• Experience working with European or premium vehicle brands would be an asset but is not required.
• Basic computer literacy is required.
• Valid driver’s licence is required.
