Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.
Employees will receive a provisional salary set at 5% below the minimum rate for the position until the required Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) certification is obtained.

We Require
Two years of automotive mechanic experience
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education in Automotive Technology or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the experience requirement
Other Requirements
Successful candidates must currently possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
Must possess or can obtain the necessary emission certification through the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) within 90 days of hire to perform emissions testing and compliance activities; obtaining this certification is a condition of employment

Job Contributions
Inspect, diagnose, and perform complex repairs on light-duty vehicles and equipment, including engine systems, electrical/electronic components, braking, climate control, drivetrain, suspension, and body systems; test for proper operation and estimate repair time and cost
Perform routine preventative maintenance on light-duty vehicles, including oil and filter changes, equipment inspections, and thorough annual inspections, and conduct vehicle emissions testing to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations
Perform road and operational tests of vehicles after repairs to verify safe, reliable performance; document test results and any follow-up repairs
Maintain service records; document diagnostic findings and repair notes; prepare repair cost estimates; and enter all information into the fleet maintenance tracking system
Maintain an accurate inventory of parts
Promote and maintain a safe and compliant work environment by upholding safety standards, maintaining shop cleanliness, and proactively identifying and reporting hazards to leadership
Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
This position requires the employee to be in the office/field or customer-facing for all hours worked
Exerting 20 - 25 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
Machines, tools, equipment, software, and hardware
All specialized equipment, software, and hardware will be provided by Equipment Services. The technician will provide personal mechanic tools.
Protective equipment required
All PPE will be provided by Equipment Services.
