General Summary

Qualcomm is leveraging its expertise in wireless and computing technologies to drive a major technological revolution in the automotive industry. The Qualcomm Automotive Team is seeking a Stability SME (Subject Matter Expert) to lead system stability engineering for next-generation automotive platforms. This role focuses on Linux kernel power management, suspend/resume reliability, DSQB (Deep Sleep / Quick Boot), STR (Suspend-to-RAM), and boot stability for Qualcomm automotive SoC platforms.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Serve as the technical authority for system stability on Qualcomm automotive platforms, with focus on power management, suspend/resume (STR), deep sleep / Quick boot (DSQB), and boot reliability
  • Debug and resolve system stability issues related to Linux kernel power management, including suspend/resume failures, deep sleep anomalies, and wakeup source tracking
  • Analyze and triage bootloader-related stability issues, including XBL (eXtensible Bootloader), ABL (Android Bootloader), and secure boot failures
  • Perform root-cause analysis of power-domain related crashes, voltage rail sequencing issues, and clock/regulator driver failures
  • Drive improvements to suspend/resume latency, deep sleep entry/exit reliability, and boot-time stability for automotive platforms
  • Define and own stability KPIs and regression tracking for DSQB/STR milestones across automotive platform releases
  • Collaborate with hardware teams, chipset teams, and OEM/Tier-1 customers to resolve complex power-on-reset (POR) and reboot-loop issues
  • Develop automated tools and scripts to analyze power management and boot stability issues from crash dumps and logs
  • Translate customer stability pain points into actionable engineering scope and drive resolution with internal teams
  • Engage with internal teams (kernel, platform, CoreTech) to drive architecture improvements and code quality enhancements
  • Represent Qualcomm in technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders on stability topics
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing on stability methodologies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • At the BS level, a minimum of 10 years; at the MS level, 8 years; and at the PhD level, 6 years of embedded Linux software development experience, with focus on system stability and power management
  • Deep expertise in Linux kernel power management subsystems: suspend-to-RAM (STR), deep sleep (DSQB), runtime PM, PSCI, CPUIdle, devfreq, and wakeup sources
  • Strong experience with ARM-based SoC bootloaders, including XBL/ABL/U-Boot, secure boot chain, and boot sequence debugging
  • Proficient in C and scripting languages (Python, Shell) for driver development and debug tooling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience debugging suspend/resume failures and deep sleep issues using ftrace, perf, /sys/kernel/debug/suspend_stats, and wakeup_count
  • Solid understanding of ARM power architecture: power domains, clock/voltage/regulator frameworks, PMIC interaction, and RPMh/ARC/VRM
  • Experience with crash dump analysis tools (ramdump, coredump, GDB, JTAG) for power/boot related failures
  • Familiarity with automotive-grade requirements (ISO 26262, ASIL) related to system startup and power cycling
  • Experience with Qualcomm automotive platforms (SA8797P, SA8255P, SA8775P) and their power management architecture
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR power management or automotive boot sequence requirements
  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex, multi-subsystem stability issues under pressure
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-driven with ability to span software, hardware, system, and customer-facing roles

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
