The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Automotive Service Technology Associate Instructor located at the Crump Campus.

Job Duties

  • Instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, simulation, and/or audio-visual aids to prepare them in the fundamentals of automotive mechanic’s field.
  • Administer assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • Maintain confidential student academic records and submit reports related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.).
  • Develop, plan and prepare a complete progressive course of study, syllabi, lesson plans, assignment and instructional aids, and keep these revised and up to date to meet the requirements of industry.
  • Conduct and/or attend meetings, day and/or evening, with program stakeholders.
  • Participate in recruitment of students; Assist with student placement and student follow-up.
  • Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the field. Overnight travel may be required.
  • Motivation, conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance of student during the time he/she is on the institution campus are also duties of the instructor.
  • Ensure compliance with all TBR, institutional, state, and federal requirements.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of Technical Diploma in the instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in a related field; A comparable combination of education and related experience may be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in the automotive mechanics field within the last five (5) years.
• Must possess all required ASE certifications and/or accreditations for the field or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months.
• Strong hands-on technical background in all areas of the automotive mechanic field

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
• Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Normal standing, sitting, and walking
  • Lifting of boxes/items weighing approximately 40 lbs.
  • Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area.

SALARY:

$51,149-$61,379

Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
