Automotive Service Manager / Shop Operations Leader – $104K–$150K+
Location: Saint James, Long Island, NY
Schedule: Full-Time
Compensation: $104,000 – $150,000+ annually
Base Salary (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE): $2,000–$2,300/week guaranteed + performance bonuses
Promotive is hiring an experienced Automotive Service Manager / Shop Operations Leader for a well-established independent automotive repair facility in Saint James, Long Island, NY. This is a rare leadership opportunity for a true automotive professional who can run the front of the shop, manage workflow, lead technicians, handle customers, and jump into the shop when needed.
This is not an entry-level advisor role. We’re looking for a high-level operator with strong automotive knowledge, leadership ability, and the confidence to run daily operations like an owner. Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily shop operations in a high-volume independent repair facility
- Manage workflow, dispatching, and technician productivity
- Serve as the lead point of contact for customers and handle escalated concerns professionally
- Open and close the facility while maintaining operational accountability
- Sell automotive repair and maintenance services with integrity and professionalism
- Hold technicians accountable for productivity, quality, and process adherence
- Assist with diagnostics and repairs when necessary
- Monitor shop efficiency, gross profit, ARO, and overall performance metrics
- Utilize DVI systems and shop management software effectively
- Support hiring, onboarding, and employee development initiatives
- Help improve shop systems, workflow, and overall customer experience
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience running or managing an automotive repair shop
- Strong background in automotive service, diagnostics, and repair operations
- Previous experience as a Service Manager, Shop Manager, Lead Advisor, Foreman, or A-Level Technician
- Proven ability to manage high-volume workflow and technician dispatching
- Strong sales, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills
- Experience with DVI platforms and shop management systems such as Tekmetric
- Understanding of gross profit management, workflow efficiency, and KPI tracking
- Ability to lead from the front and maintain accountability within the shop
- Professional appearance, communication skills, and leadership mentality
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Compensation & Bonus Structure
Guaranteed Base Salary
- $2,000–$2,300 per week guaranteed (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE / SKILLS)
- Expected annual base salary of $104,000–$120,000+
