Expleo is a trusted partner for end-to-end, integrated engineering, quality services and management consulting for digital transformation. We help businesses harness unrelenting technological change to successfully deliver innovations that will help them gain a competitive advantage and improve the everyday lives of people around the globe.

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Senior Software Integration Engineer to lead the integration, validation, and delivery of embedded software systems across commercial vehicle platforms. This role is critical to ensuring that ECU software releases are robust, fully validated, and delivered on schedule to support successful vehicle launches.

You will act as the integration focal point between software development teams, system owners, and vehicle test functions, coordinating verification and validation activities across bench, HiL/SIL, and vehicle environments. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in ECU integration and automotive communications with proactive issue resolution and strong stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage software integration activities across multiple ECUs and vehicle systems.

  • Define and maintain integration, diagnostics, and validation documentation.

  • Liaise with system owners and software teams to track software availability and plan verification and validation (V&V) activities.

  • Coordinate with vehicle test teams to execute HiL, SIL, bench, and in-vehicle testing.

  • Perform software flashing, configuration, and calibration activities using appropriate diagnostic and programming tools.

  • Analyse integration and communication issues and perform structured root cause analysis to resolution.

  • Use automotive communication and diagnostic tools (e.g., CANoe, CANalyzer) to monitor, simulate, and debug network behaviour.

  • Identify and mitigate integration and release risks early in the development lifecycle.

  • Track, manage, and report issues through to closure in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Provide on-site support as required during key integration, test, and launch phases.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of integration processes, tooling, and test coverage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Full UK (or equivalent) driving licence.
  • Relevant automotive integration or validation certifications are advantageous.

Essential skills

  • Strong experience in embedded automotive software integration and ECU-level validation.

  • Proficiency in software flashing, calibration, and diagnostics processes.

  • Solid understanding of automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet

  • Hands-on experience with CANoe, CANalyzer, and associated network analysis tools.

  • Ability to interpret and work with DBC and ARXML files.

  • Experience supporting HiL, SIL, bench, and vehicle-level testing.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with structured root cause methodologies.

  • Ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Desired skills

  • Experience with J1939, J1979, UDS or other diagnostic protocols.
  • Exposure to calibration toolchains and vehicle diagnostics environments.
  • Familiarity with commercial vehicle or heavy-duty vehicle systems.
  • Experience with automated integration or regression testing frameworks.
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR architectures and ECU configuration processes.
  • Knowledge of release management and risk mitigation practices.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in automotive software integration and embedded systems environments.
  • Proven track record of supporting software integration through to successful vehicle or system launch.
  • Experience collaborating with system, software, and test teams in a cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex software and network-level issues.
  • Experience working on-site in lab and vehicle test environments.
