Job Description

  • Determines project scope and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
  • Communicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements.
  • Acts to address client concerns and to resolve client issues.
  • Provides technical assistance to clients in reference to product evaluation and follow-up services.
  • Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying OEM requirements.
  • Is familiar with applicable standards (ASTM, ISO, DIN, FMVSS, USCAR) and/or OEM standards.
  • Knowledgeable of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
  • Coordinates laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory technicians and engineering support staff and establishing completion dates.
  • Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
  • Assists in developing special test methods and test equipment.
  • May coordinate and/or perform File Reviews, as directed.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
  • Manage automotive testing and validation projects from quotation through final report delivery.
  • Coordinate sample receipt, test scheduling, and laboratory activities to meet project timelines.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, laboratories, and internal stakeholders.
  • Track project progress, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate status, issues, and action plans to customers and management.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel, technical specialists, and sales teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Assist in developing new testing capabilities and expanding laboratory service offerings.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget
  • University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Materials, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program plus two years directly related experience.
  • Experience in automotive testing, validation, or product development.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory testing apparatus and techniques common to the appropriate discipline.
  • English (B2 level).
  • Project management communication and problem-solving skills.
