Examples of duties

In this position, you will focus on maintaining and repairing a wide variety of vehicles, construction equipment, and powered tools to support transportation operations. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

  • Maintenance Work: Perform preventive care and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment
  • System Repairs: Work on electrical, cooling, suspension, driveline, fuel, brake, heating, and air conditioning systems
  • Safety Inspections: Complete official state safety and emissions inspections and document all related records
  • Field Service: Respond to emergency service needs and conduct repairs or adjustments outside the garage when necessary
  • Equipment Records: Maintain accurate equipment maintenance logs and support environmental and safety requirements
  • Technical Support: Demonstrate repair techniques, assist other mechanics, and help secure proper parts and supplies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles


Additional Requirements:

  • You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.
  • You must possess a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate upon hire.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
