Diesel Technician – $25–$50/hr – No Weekends, High Earning Potential

Location: Cumberland, RI
Schedule: Monday–Friday (No Weekends)
Pay Range: $25.00–$50.00 per hour
Earning Potential: $100K+ annually
Experience Required: 6+ Years (Light, Medium, Heavy Duty)

Promotive is hiring an experienced Diesel Technician for a busy, well-equipped shop in Cumberland, RI where the work is steady, the equipment is modern, and weekends are actually yours.

If you’re the technician people call over when things get weird (you know… intermittent issues, mystery codes, “it only does it sometimes”), you’ll fit right in here. This shop values real diagnostic skill — not guesswork, not parts swapping, and definitely not “let’s try this and see.”

You’ll have the opportunity to earn $100K+, work on everything from pickups to semis, and stay consistently productive without the usual shop chaos.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines from light-duty trucks to heavy-duty equipment
• Perform advanced troubleshooting on Cummins, Duramax, Powerstroke, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, and more
• Handle brake, suspension, and drivetrain repairs (the real work, not just oil changes)
• Complete preventive maintenance and trailer repairs
• Diagnose and repair emissions and aftertreatment systems
• Work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
• Collaborate with foremen and team members to keep workflow moving
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace (or at least organized enough to find your 10mm)

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a Diesel Technician
• Strong experience across light-, medium-, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles
• Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting skills (parts changers will struggle here)
• Experience with major diesel platforms (Cummins, Duramax, Detroit, CAT, Powerstroke)
• Ability to work independently and stay productive
• Own your tools (bonus points if they’re organized)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• ASE certifications are a plus
