Automotive Apprentice Technician, Tumbler Ridge, BC (Rotation Option)
Location: Tumbler Ridge, BC
Job Type: Full-Time
Apprentices: 2nd yr or higher
Pay: $40.00/hour to $52.00/hour (Straight time)
We are looking for a 2nd Year or higher Automotive Apprentice Technician to join our client’s growing team in Tumbler Ridge, BC.
This is a hands-on position working on a diverse fleet of gas and diesel vehicles, light-duty units, and heavy-duty equipment.
Rotational opportunities and accommodations are available for qualified candidates who do not live in Tumbler Ridge.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, service, repair, and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Work on gas and diesel engines, including light- and heavy-duty units.
- Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related problems.
- Inspect and test vehicles to ensure they are safe and ready for service.
- Perform test drives, pressure tests, system adjustments, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Use computerized diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Work with experienced Mechanics and the Supervisor when additional technical support is required.
- Ensure the required tools, parts, and supplies are available before starting repairs.
- Complete service reports and equipment maintenance documentation.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Follow all applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Assist with other shop and maintenance duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be a registered Automotive Service Technician Apprentice – 2nd Year or higher.
- Minimum 2 years of automotive repair experience preferred.
- Experience working with both gas and diesel vehicles is an asset.
- Ford training or certification is an asset.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Comfortable using computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems is an asset.
- Experience working with construction or heavy-duty equipment is an asset.
- Welding and cutting experience is an asset.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's licence.
- Class 3 driver's licence is an asset.
- CVIP licence/certification is an asset.
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting and handling automotive parts and equipment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be willing to work after hours when required.
