POSITION NAME Automobile Technician ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT Function Maintenance Department Maintenance Reporting to Supervisor - Maintenance Location Head Office Grade Sub-sections / Units SCOPE Supervision: (Number and type of subordinates reporting to the incumbent) Direct: nil Indirect: nil Type: NA Asset under Management (in Rial Omani) NA Limits of Authority As per limits of authority manual JOB CONTENT To perform inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and servicing of company vehicles to ensure their safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The position is responsible for identifying vehicle faults, carrying out necessary repairs, maintaining service records, and ensuring vehicles are kept in good working condition. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operational: 1. Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance of company vehicles. 2. Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. 3. Carry out repairs and replacement of faulty vehicle components as required. 4. Service and maintain vehicle engines, brakes, suspension, steering, transmission, and other mechanical systems. 5. Check and maintain vehicle fluids, batteries, tyres, and other essential components. 6. Conduct regular vehicle inspections to identify potential faults and safety issues. 7. Carry out oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and other routine servicing activities. 8. Assist in troubleshooting and repairing vehicle electrical and electronic systems. 9. Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and safe for operation before being released for use. 10. Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, servicing, repairs, and replaced parts. 11. Report major faults, required repairs, and spare parts requirements to the supervisor. 12. Coordinate with external garages or service providers when specialized repairs are required. 13. Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities. 14. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. 15. Follow all company maintenance procedures, safety requirements, and instructions from the supervisor. 16. Perform any other duties assigned by the reporting manager/supervisor. KEY INTERACTIONS 1. Internal – All internal business and support units – As part of day-to-day activities 2. External – Vendors, Service providers – As part of day-to-day activities 3. Level of external interaction – This position requires low level of external interactions . Requirements MINIMUM EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Education: – Diploma / Certification in relevant discipline Experience: – 2 years of relevant experience Special Skills & Knowledge: – Good knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems – Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle faults – Good knowledge of preventive maintenance and vehicle service – Ability to use basic automotive tools and diagnostic equipment – Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship – Ability to work independently and as part of a team – Good communication and interpersonal skills Business Understanding: – This position doesn’t require any business understanding ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION /CERTIFICATION REQUIRED – NA HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT – This position follows all the HSE procedures as set by the company KEY COMPETENCIES – As specified in Job Competency Profile WORK ENVIRONMENT – Workshop and vehicle maintenance environment with varied working conditions – May require working outdoors and in areas exposed to heat, dust, noise, and vehicle-related hazards – May require standing for extended periods and working under or around vehicles – Must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all workshop safety procedures
