- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for web (Chrome, Edge, Safari), mobile app (iOS / Android), and API testing, using the project’s Katalon framework and common keywords.
- Script automated test cases, and convert manual test cases into automated scripts under the guidance of Senior/Lead Automation Engineers, following the established framework structure (Katalon-based) and coding conventions.
- Execute automated test scripts across web (Chrome, Edge, Safari) and API testing, and troubleshoot straightforward script failures.
- Perform manual testing (functional, regression, smoke) when required and convert stable manual test cases into automation scripts.
- Log, track, and update defects in JIRA with clear reproduction steps, and follow up on defect status.
- Assist in analyzing test execution results (pass/fail, logs) and prepare basic execution reports under guidance.
- Commit and manage code/scripts using Git/GitLab, following the team's branching and review process.
- Participate in sprint activities, collaborate with the team, and raise blockers promptly.
- Continuously learn the Katalon framework, automation best practices, and domain knowledge (banking/financial services) through on-the-job coaching.
- Support documentation of test cases, scripts, and simple how-to guides as part of team knowledge base.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in software testing, with some exposure to test automation (personal projects, internship, or professional experience).
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Java or Python (or willingness to learn quickly).
- Basic understanding of Selenium and/or Appium concepts (locators, waits, page object pattern) — hands-on experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Fundamental understanding of REST API concepts (HTTP methods, status codes, JSON) and willingness to learn API testing tools (Postman, RestAssured, or similar).
- Basic understanding of the software testing lifecycle: test case design, execution, defect reporting.
- Familiarity with JIRA and Git (basic commands: clone, commit, push, pull, branch).
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum basics (sprint ceremonies, user stories).
- Hands-on experience in manual testing (functional/regression testing).
- Good attitude toward learning, receiving feedback, and working in a team environment.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Katalon Studio (even self-taught or through coursework).
- Coursework, certification, or personal projects related to test automation (e.g., ISTQB Foundation, automation bootcamps).
- Basic exposure to CI/CD concepts (Jenkins, GitLab CI) — not required to have hands-on experience.
- Interest in banking/financial services domain.
- Good English skills sufficient to read technical documentation.
- Experience using AI chat tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) for research, debugging, and learning
- Familiarity with at least one AI coding assistant (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar)
- Ability to write clear, contextual prompts to generate code snippets, unit tests, or documentation
- Awareness of AI output limitations and responsible AI use (data privacy, handling of sensitive client data)
Engagement Details
- Delivery model: Agile/Scrum, two-week sprints; ~6-month engagement, working under the guidance of Senior/Lead Automation Engineers.
- Location: Primarily based at KMS office (hybrid working mode); occasional on-site presence at the client's Ha Noi head office may be required during key phases, accompanied by senior team members.
- Team: Works within a KMS automation squad, reporting to and mentored by a Senior Automation Engineer/Test Lead.
