The successful candidate will join Automation, an ambitious new department at Acutec, which is responsible for the in-house development, installation, integration, and maintenance of automated systems. The team is responsible for maintaining documentation, troubleshooting automated systems, and collaborating with teams that work with automated systems. The employee (in cooperation with the team) will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of automated systems and robotic programs. Acutec is a clean, climate-controlled facility that houses state of the art manufacturing and automation machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Interface with the automation team to ensure automated systems are functioning properly.
· Assist in installation and integration of automated systems.
· Guide machine operators through use of automation technology to ensure proper system handling.
· Assist shop personnel in checking or troubleshooting equipment as required.
· Create and maintain design records for all automation projects, once familiarized with schematics and CAD
· Maintain the proper safety system according to current regulations.
· Display willingness to learn programming techniques.
· Ensure documentation and work instructions are up to date.
· Ensure automated systems are backed up and the current programs are on file.
Key Roles
· Assist and learn to test mechanical and electrical systems for integration of automated systems.
· Interface with necessary teams to troubleshoot, maintain, and update existing automated systems as needed.
· Perform system turnovers to ensure accurate setup (fixturing, program selection, gripper changes)
Assist the automation team in all aspects of integration (wiring, pneumatics, electronics, safety, and monitoring).

Education & Experience Requirements:
This position requires 2 years of experience in manufacturing technology, or an equivalent combination of experience and technical education in fields related to automation or electrical systems. Formal training or education in a related field is a plus.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
The employee must express a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment
The employee should have basic knowledge of electrical components and machine control systemsThe employee must display proficiency with using hand tools. Experience in documentation using Word and Excel is a must The employee should be familiar with building systems by following written instructions or blueprints. The employee must be a strong team player and have the ability to integrate with multiple people in a cross-functional roll, be a self-starter, be able to present progress and train co-workers on new technology. Candidates should have basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic/hydraulic skills. Experience with CAD programs is a plus, but not required.
