Automation Specialist

Kirby Risk is looking for an Automation Specialist to join our team in Lafayette, Indiana. In this role, you'll work closely with customers and sales professionals to identify, recommend, and support automation solutions that help manufacturers improve productivity, reliability, and operational performance.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, building customer relationships, and applying their knowledge of industrial automation in real-world manufacturing environments. You'll serve as a trusted technical resource, helping customers navigate automation opportunities while supporting the growth of our automation business throughout the region.

What You will Do

As an Automation Specialist, you'll partner with customers, suppliers, and internal sales teams to develop and implement solutions that solve manufacturing challenges and create value for our customers.

You will:

  • Partner with customers and sales teams to understand operational challenges and recommend effective automation solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation related to Industrial Controls and automation applications.
  • Support customers with solutions involving Rockwell Automation Software & Control, I/O, and HMI technologies.
  • Assist customers with the selection, implementation, and optimization of automation solutions.
  • Support Industrial IoT and connected manufacturing initiatives designed to improve efficiency and data visibility.
  • Deliver product education, training, and technical guidance to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Automation Consultants, and supplier partners to identify opportunities and support customer projects.
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsiveness, technical knowledge, and exceptional service.
  • Stay current on emerging automation technologies and industry trends.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), or a related field; equivalent industry experience may also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Controls and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with or exposure to Rockwell Automation Software & Control, I/O, and HMI platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments, industrial equipment, and plant floor operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust with customers and teammates.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Desire to continuously learn and expand technical expertise within the automation industry.
