Our client is a European industrial group with nearly 50 years of experience and a global leader in robotic automation solutions for the plastic injection molding industry.
Specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of robots and intelligent automation systems, the company supports industrial customers across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, providing solutions that combine robotics, automation, engineering, installation, commissioning, and after-sales service.
As part of the continued development of its North American operations, the company is strengthening its automation capabilities in Mexico to support increasingly complex projects and progressively build stronger local project execution capabilities.
To support this new phase of growth, the company is looking to recruit an Automation Project Manager, who will play a central role in managing robotic automation projects.
The position is based in Querétaro, primarily on-site, with travel required depending on project needs.
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations for North America and acting as the main coordination point for automation projects in Mexico, you will be responsible for keeping projects under control from purchase order through installation, customer acceptance, and final project closure.
Your role will combine Project Management, technical coordination, customer management and process development, connecting customers, sales, suppliers, engineering, service, management, and international teams.
You will support the gradual transition from a highly outsourced automation execution model toward a more balanced approach combining the capabilities of international teams with stronger local project execution capabilities in Mexico.
End-to-End Automation Project Management
You will manage automation and robotics projects from start to finish, from purchase order through engineering, manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance, and final project closure.
You will develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules, clearly communicating project status and potential deviations to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
You will continuously monitor project scope, budget, costs, margins, schedule, and technical execution, identifying changes or deviations that could affect successful project delivery.
International Coordination and Customer Management
You will play a particularly important role ensuring that customer requirements are properly communicated, project status is transparent, timelines are realistic, and expectations remain aligned with actual project progress.
You will coordinate customer visits, technical reviews, manufacturing activities, testing, installations, and other project-related activities involving teams in Mexico, the United States and China.
You will escalate significant project risks and deviations to management at the appropriate time, clearly explaining their potential impact and possible solutions.
Project Documentation and Follow-Up
You will help develop repeatable project templates, checklists, meeting formats, installation plans, customer communication standards, and project tracking tools.
You will apply and adapt existing North American procedures and best practices whenever appropriate for the Mexican organization.
You will use project documentation not simply as an administrative requirement, but as a tool to drive decisions, anticipate problems, and create accountability across stakeholders.
You hold a degree in Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, or another relevant technical field.
You bring at least 5 years of professional experience in industrial project management, ideally managing automation, robotics, machinery, capital equipment, manufacturing equipment, or other complex technical projects.
You have experience managing technical projects from beginning to end and understanding the different stages related to engineering, manufacturing, supplier coordination, testing, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
You are able to read and understand technical layouts, project scopes, quotations, drawings, and project documentation.
You demonstrate strong project ownership and accountability, taking responsibility for project progress and ensuring that commitments are followed through.
You are proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to anticipate problems and coordinate multiple stakeholders to drive solutions.
You have a strong customer-focused mindset, both internally and externally, and know how to build trust through professional, timely, and accurate communication.
You have an advanced level of English, both written and spoken.
This position offers the opportunity to join an established international industrial group and global leader in robotic automation.
You will have significant autonomy and international exposure, working directly with industrial customers, technical teams and management on projects where your ability to maintain control, anticipate risks, communicate clearly, and drive solutions will have a direct impact on project performance and customer satisfaction.
