This position reports to:

Engineering Manager

As Project Lead Engineer you will plan, coordinate and execute larger Distributed Control System projects with medium complexity in the energy industry. You will be responsible for the execution aspects of the technical disciplines involved, technical knowledge sharing and applying best practices.

With your professional and engaging personality and your experience in control system technology and automation, you will manage engineering activities with innovative solutions, efficient execution to meet customer expectations and specifications.

The work model for the role is: LI-Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Energy Industries Division at ABB Switzerland for the power generation market.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Fulfilling the contractual obligations in terms of technical requirements, scope and on-time delivery for medium to high complexity Automation/DCS Projects.
• Leading, coordinating, coaching and supporting project engineers, manage and organize operation centre engineering and external suppliers.
• Working closely with customers to shape and deliver solutions, seeks feedback, and innovates with them to create and deliver improvements.
• Developing and reviewing standard processes, tools and techniques while ensuring that engineering activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
• Assisting project managers in scope control, risk and opportunity assessments, and implementing improvement and mitigation actions as well as providing technical details, costs calculations and deliverables definition for sales proposals.

Qualifications for the role:

• Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical or mechanical engineering or in a related technical field
• Leadership personality with 3 - 5 years engineering and commissioning experience in larger size process automation projects covering software and electrical engineering.
• In depth knowledge of large-scale process automation DCS Systems ABB 800xA / 800M
• Good interpersonal skills are required to build cooperation, negotiate & reach agreement with customers and suppliers.
• Broad knowledge in “State of the Art” technology, engineering practices and codes and standards in the automation field with SCADA and Control Systems
• Experience in functional safety requirements in System, Software and Hardware design (Certified Functional Safety Engineer is an asset)
• A strong focus on safety at work and commitment to following workplace safety guidelines.
• A professional, collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with solid written and spoken communication skills in German and English.
