This is a 3-4-year competency-based Maintenance Technician Development program. This program has been developed to meet the needs for qualified Maintenance Technicians in the Lafayette, IN facility, through on-the-job training and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) study program. The trainee will be assigned to a variety of training stations with specific learning activities throughout the facility that pertain to their skill path, and will rotate between first, second and third shifts as needed to complete learning requirements. Upon successful completion of the program, the trainee will be given the opportunity to become a level 6 Maintenance Technician.

The applicant will be required to take classes at a local Ivy Tech community college to acquire a technical certificate during the program. The applicant will also be required to work all shifts IE: first, second & third during the Maintenance Training Development program. It is incumbent that the applicant takes the lead in his or her own learning by working within the ILP and the tradesmen. Successful candidate will graduate from the Maintenance Technician Development program to a 2nd or 3rd shift opening to be determined later.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Technical certificate or associate degree from an accredited program.
  • Intermediate level mechanical/electrical skills, PLC’s, Drives, Electrical
  • The applicant must be willing to take a variety of written and hands-on assessments and complete required learning assignments with subject study and specific homework assignments on their own time.
  • The applicant will also be required to work all shifts during the apprentice program.
  • Strong computer hardware, network and software skills and knowledge.
  • Basic mechanical/electrical skills, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Candidate should be willing to work overtime, such as weekends, holidays and shutdowns.

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates for all positions must have the ability to work in a fast pace, medium to heavy duty assembly, technical environment.

  • Work may involve frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing, and standing on concrete for 8+ hours.

  • All positions also require the ability to lift 40 pounds and withstand frequent repetitive movement of hands with a variety of tooling.

  • Must be able to work in heights, work underground, and confirmed spaces.

Additional Information:

  • Location of this position is in Lafayette, IN

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Any relocation costs incurred would be the responsibility of the selected applicant.

  • Shift to be determined after apprenticeship is completed.

  • 40-hour work weeks with potential for Overtime

  • 13 days/104 hours of paid Personal Time Off (PTO) - (Prorated based upon start date)

  • 11 Paid holidays

  • Climate controlled work environment – most areas

Pay Range:

$29.40 - $37.40
