Job Description

Position Function:

IT Computer Operations is responsible for the reliable and timely execution of the bank’s daily, weekly, and monthly technology processing, including file transfers, data movement, content management, and supporting notifications and controls. The Automation Engineer modernizes and automates these operations by replacing legacy scripts and manual, paper-based procedures with reliable, auditable, automated workflows built on the enterprise-selected automation platform, using deterministic workflow applications, business process automation, and connectorized integrations. This role also systematizes operational documentation, monitoring, and controls, and provides day-to-day platform administration and operational support for the automated jobs.

Performs all duties and interacts with internal and external customers in a manner aligned with the Company's Core Values of Voyaging Spirit and Positively Ohana; Customer Experience Competencies of Customer Interaction, Empowerment and Ownership; and Basic Skills of Listening, Oral Communication, Written Communication, Action Orientated, Thoroughness, Problem Solving.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Assess and prioritize existing IT operations jobs, scripts, and manual procedures (daily, weekly, and monthly), mapping dependencies and building a prioritized automation roadmap.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy automated workflows that replace legacy scripts and manual processes, including file transfers and movement, data downloads and uploads, and file and content management, following platform standards established by the CPB Architecture Review Board.
  • Automate email notifications, logging, alerting, and exception handling so that job failures are visible and actionable without manual intervention.
  • Replace paper checklists and manual sign-offs with automated execution evidence, reporting, and completion tracking that meets audit and compliance expectations.
  • Convert Word-based runbooks into platform-based runbooks, standard operating procedures, dependency maps, and recovery procedures.
  • Perform day-to-day administration of the automation platform (scheduling, credentials and secrets, access, and configuration), resolve job failures, and manage changes through version control and controlled promotion.
  • Partner with operations staff, security, application teams, and the Integration team, and train operators on the new tools and processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year university or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and training required.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise integration, technical process automation, or workflow automation required.
  • Platform experience in enterprise automation or integration platforms (e.g., Workato, Boomi, SnapLogic) preferred.
  • Legacy migration experience in migrating legacy batch or script-based jobs to a modern automation platform preferred.
  • Regulated industry experience in a regulated environment, such as banking or financial services preferred.
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting automated workflows using workflow orchestration, business process automation, or integration platforms preferred.
  • Experience with file transfer and data movement (SFTP/FTPS, managed file transfer) and common data formats (CSV, XML, JSON, fixed-width) preferred.
  • Experience with API and connector-based integration preferred.
  • Experience with job scheduling, logging, error handling, and alerting for unattended processes preferred.
  • Experience with automation platforms (e.g., Workato, Boomi, SnapLogic) is considered a strong differentiator preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform light physical work and to move or lift items including but not limited to boxes, files and papers up to 20 pounds unless otherwise as indicated.
  • Must be able to operate and proficiently use standard office equipment, including phone, copier, personal computer and/or other work related mechanical or electronic devices and applications.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers. Must also be able to hear sufficiently to engage in daily discussions and interactions.
  • Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
  • Must be able to work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods of time. Must also be able to adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
