As an Automation Engineer at Lexington Medical, you will design the fixtures and specify the robotics and automation equipment that build a surgical stapler, then scale those processes as production volume grows. This is an entry-level role built for an engineer coming out of school, and the work is real from the start: the fixture you design gets installed on a line that is running, and you will be on the floor when it does. Manufacturing, engineering, and quality all work in the same building in Bedford, so the loop between designing something and finding out whether it worked is short.
Lexington Medical designs and manufactures AEON™ surgical stapling technology at our headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts, just outside Boston. Our products are used in minimally invasive surgery, where precision, reliability, and quality matter every time. Because engineering, manufacturing, and quality work together under one roof, the people building and supporting our products are close to both the process and the decisions behind it.
As an Automation Engineer at Lexington Medical, you will support the development, implementation, and scaling of the manufacturing processes that produce our AEON™ surgical stapling products. You will design fixturing and tooling in SolidWorks, help source and commission production equipment including robotics and automation cells, provide day-to-day engineering support on the floor, and use process data to find and fix the steps that limit quality or throughput. You will work alongside experienced manufacturing engineers who will hand you real projects early rather than have you shadow theirs, and you will learn how manufacturing works inside a regulated quality system as you go.
This position is based at our headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts, in the Greater Boston area, and is an on-site role.
