Job Description

The Automation Controls Co Op position for student in the chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering or computer science fields at the SI Group. The position will provide an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience at a chemical production facility in a part-time capacity while finishing their education. The successful applicants will be mentored by experienced engineers in their field on assignments that range from small capital projects to supporting day to day activities. In addition to the specific assigned projects / tasks, the student will have the opportunity to spend time interacting with and or shadowing various functions on site (production, logistics, lab, maintenance).

Projects

  1. Update AspenOne Process Explorer Graphics and Documentation

a) Convert existing and develop new process graphics using Aspen One Process Explorer.

b) Convert existing OSI Pi calculation and reports using AspenCalc, SQL++ and Reporting tools

Opportunity to learn about Chemical processes, MS Office document skills, Aspen Historian Software, SQL Programming and about control systems graphics

  1. Process and Control System Simulation Setup/Test

Co-Op will learn and gain experience in how to setup/test controls simulation systems, server virtualization and learn about control systems programming (Structured text, Function Blocks, Sequential Chart, Ladder Logic)

  1. Update Control Systems Diagram and documents

You will learn AutoCAD andor Visio software.

Safety/Health/Environment:

  • Be responsible for personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Adhere to all applicable EH&S regulations and Engineering Standards.
  • Participate as needed in safety audits, incident investigations, PHA/HAZOP studies. Ensure company and statutory EHS standards are maintained, including Responsible Care.
  • Complete all assigned and required safety training in a timely manner.

  • Degree program must be Engineering or Computer Science
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Eligible for work within the US
  • Completion of pre-employment screening requirements of a background check and drug testing
