TITLE: SR SERVICENOW DEVELOPER
STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORT TO: MANAGER – IT SERVICE DELIVERY
DEPARTMENT: IT – SERVICE DELIVERY

PAY SCALE: $123,600.00 - 147,000.00 ANNUALLY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Senior ServiceNow Developer holds a pivotal role in the organization, leading the design, development, and implementation of solutions on the ServiceNow platform. With an advanced understanding of ServiceNow, the Senior Developer will spearhead projects that enhance business processes and operations. This role requires a seasoned professional capable of mentoring junior developers, liaising with various organizational departments, and contributing to the strategic IT goals of the company.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
1. Development and Leadership:
a. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of business rules, client scripts, UI actions, UI policies, workflows, and other ServiceNow configurations.
b. Broaden skillset with integration or custom applications within ServiceNow, including custom script API integrations to a RESTful service.
c. Develop and maintain custom applications, modules, and integrations with other systems and platforms.
d. Mentor and guide junior developers, imparting best practices and ensuring quality of code.
2. Project Management:
a. Oversee ServiceNow development projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.
b. Coordinate with various IT and business departments to ensure effective implementation of ServiceNow solutions.
3. Testing, Deployment, and Optimization:
a. Conduct thorough testing, including unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
b. Lead the deployment of updates and new configurations to the production environment, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal disruption.
c. Optimize ServiceNow configurations to ensure system performance and reliability.
4. Documentation:
a. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all developed solutions, ensuring they adhere to organizational standards.
b. Develop technical documentation including system architecture diagrams, data models, and process flow diagrams.
5. Support and Troubleshooting:
a. Serve as a technical resource for ServiceNow related troubleshooting, providing advanced support and guidance.
b. Lead the resolution of complex issues, implementing long-term solutions to recurring problems.
6. Continuous Improvement:
a. Promote continuous improvement by identifying and recommending opportunities for process, system, and other efficiencies.
b. Stay abreast of ServiceNow best practices and new functionalities, integrating this knowledge into the organization’s operations.
7. Compliance:
a. Ensure all developed solutions are compliant with the organization's IT policies, procedures, and standards, as well as state and federal regulations.
PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:
1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to interpret, resolve, and document business or technical.
2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.
3. Must be able to self-prioritize work in a manner that maintains deliverable targets.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:
1. INTERNAL: All levels of staff and management.
2. EXTERNAL: Vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s Degree is a plus.
2. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of seven years of experience in software design, programming, maintenance, technical troubleshooting, and documentation is required. Minimum 4 or more years of experience with ServiceNow deployment and administration. ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and/or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist certification is strongly preferred. Experience in modifying workspaces within the UI builder.
3. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS: Enterprise experience working with multi-tier software architecture, object-oriented design, requirements gathering, Agile and Waterfall SDLC, and have a thorough understanding of core systems infrastructure (operating systems, web server, database, etc.). Demonstrated expertise in developing, troubleshooting, and implementing software code that includes two or more programming languages similar to the following:
a. Procedural: TAL
b. Non-Structured: SQL
c. Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow platform functionalities and capabilities such as Glide records, aggregates, and angular JS.
d. Proficiency in web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
e. Strong project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
f. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
g. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple priorities and tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
h. Strong leadership qualities with a desire to mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of the team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday to accomplish tasks.
2. Availability for emergencies and on call duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as needed.
3. Occasional travel may be required.
4. Corrected vision in the normal range required to configure, test, and troubleshoot network server hardware and data.
5. Hearing within normal range.
6. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate applicable computer hardware, a variety of hand tools and standard office equipment.
7. May work additional work hours to accomplish tasks.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and/or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist certification is strongly preferred. IT Service Management and Discovery experience is preferred. Certified Technical Architect (CTA) certification is highly desirable.
