Job Description

Great products depend on reliable systems. Whether it's an automated production process, a control system, or a test environment validating the next generation of technology, quality and functionality don't happen by chance—they're engineered.

At Etteplan, we're looking for Automation & Test Engineers who want to work hands-on with automation, testing, and system validation across industries such as automotive, industrial technology, and medical devices. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, commission, and improve solutions that help our customers build safer, smarter, and more reliable products.

As part of Etteplan, you'll join a team where technical curiosity, knowledge sharing, and continuous development are part of everyday work. No two projects are exactly alike, giving you the opportunity to broaden your expertise while working with technologies that have a real impact.

Your mission

As an Automation & Test Engineer, you will develop, commission, and maintain automation solutions and test environments for hardware and software products.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Developing and maintaining PLC programs for control systems and test rigs
  • Designing and building HMI/SCADA solutions for monitoring and control
  • Building, executing, and maintaining automated test systems using LabVIEW and/or TestStand
  • Troubleshooting and commissioning automation and electrical systems
  • Supporting integration of test solutions with production, test rigs, and HIL environments
  • Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, software, and system engineering teams
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, test specifications, and validation reports
  • Supporting continuous improvements in quality, reliability, and testing processes

Who are you?

Whether your background is within automation, testing, software, or electrical engineering, you enjoy solving technical challenges and seeing systems come to life. You are curious about technology, motivated by hands-on engineering, and appreciate working closely with colleagues and customers to develop reliable, high-quality solutions.

You are a person who enjoys taking initiative, sharing knowledge, and collaborating across disciplines to find practical solutions to complex challenges. As you grow with us, you'll have opportunities to develop both your technical expertise and your responsibilities, whether your ambition is to become a specialist, technical lead, or project contributor.

To succeed in this role, we believe you have:

  • Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent vocational/technical education
  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience with PLC programming using platforms such as TIA Portal, Codesys, Beckhoff, or similar
  • Experience designing and developing HMI/SCADA solutions
  • Practical experience building, maintaining, or executing automated test systems using LabVIEW and/or TestStand
  • Working knowledge of at least one programming language used in automation or test environments, such as Python, C, or C#
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Experience working with industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, OPC UA, Modbus, or MQTT
  • Professional fluency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken

It is considered a plus if you also have experience with:

  • Digital twin or emulation tools, such as Visual Components or Node-RED
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments and tools such as CANoe, CarMaker, VeriStand, or TPT
  • Regulatory and quality standards such as IEC 62304 or IEC/EN 60601-1
  • Version control and CI/CD practices
  • Working knowledge of agentic AI concepts and an interest in following developments within AI and automation

Application and Next Steps

You apply by uploading your CV and answering a few short questions related to the position. Selection and interviews are conducted continuously, so don’t hesitate to submit your application. The recruitment process begins with a phone interview and is followed by meetings with the responsible consulting manager and, if needed, additional colleagues. Our goal is to keep the process smooth so that together we can take the next step forward.

The summer period is here, and we have several open positions available during the holiday season. This typically means that we receive more applications than usual. As the selection process will take place during the first weeks of August, it may take a bit longer for us to get back to you regarding your status in the recruitment process.
