All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.

Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.

JerseySTEM is looking for a Senior Workflow Automation Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain the critical operational automations that power our virtual organization. Our mission is to deliver STEM education to middle school girls, and we rely on flawless system connectivity to make it happen. You will act as the master architect and change agent connecting our primary business tools (Google Workspace, Salesforce, Jira, and iCIMS) to eliminate manual administration, orchestrate smart workflows, and ensure a seamless digital experience for our team and volunteers. LocationThis position is remote.

Responsibilities

• Workflow Orchestration: Own the end-to-end design and optimization of high-impact automated workflows across our core business platforms (primarily utilizing Workato, and/or other iPaaS tools).
• Process Automation: Partner with product leads to audit existing manual administrative friction points and translate their operational needs into elegant, automated recipes.
• System Governance: Monitor automation health, manage API connections, and design proactive error-handling to ensure integrations run reliably without disruption.

Qualifications

• Mission Alignment: A genuine passion for bridging the gender and opportunity gaps in STEM education for underserved youth.

• Automation & iPaaS Expertise: Proven experience building complex workflows and recipes using enterprise tools like Workato, Zapier, or similar automation platforms.
• API & Logic Savvy: Strong understanding of how SaaS tools communicate (REST APIs, webhooks, JSON structures) to map data accurately between systems.
• Problem Solver: Excellent ability to break down a messy, manual human process into clean, logical, automated steps.
• Virtual Collaboration: Comfortable operating independently in a remote-first, highly collaborative environment using Jira, and Google Workspace.
