We started with pastries handmade by Lois and Lloyd Martin inside of a garage and we have boomed into a multi-facility company where our many products are produced by machines and shipped domestically and internationally. Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Auto Body Technician Intern primarily responsible for prepping company vehicles, scissor and man lifts, and bakery equipment for painting. The Auto Body Technician Intern is someone who has basic working knowledge of the technical trade, maintains industry knowledge , who embraces a mindset of thorough planning and continuous improvement, and who is rigorously dedicated to extraordinary quality and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Disassembles interior and exterior of vehicle for repaint and reassembles vehicle after painting is completed.
• Performs soda and sand blasting techniques and maintains the equipment so it remains in optimal and safe working condition at all times.
• Repairs or replaces steel, aluminum, fiberglass, plastic and wood panels (riveted, welded or bolted) on a variety of equipment such as vehicles, scissor and man lifts, and bakery equipment.
• Operates a DA sander, In-line file, Air hammerchisel for refinishing aluminum, steel, fiberglass or wood in a safe and effective manner.
• Operates an Airless spray or rollerbrush to apply paint to equipment.
• Remains flexible to adapt to change in the workplace, work schedules and priorities to ensure deadlines are met.
• Assists other technicians with final prep, sanding, masking, washing, and tacking.
• Performs detail work on vehicles by diligently cleaning interior and windows, waxing, and buffing scratches etc.
• Executes work assignments timely and in cooperation with lead and level 2 technicians.
• Ability to work with wood and plastic materials.
• Adheres to safety standards when working with toxic chemicals to remove decals from vehicles, mix paint, and clean paint from painting apparatus.
• Keeps work area clean and in constant order.
• Maintains paint and blasting booths by changing filters and performing prep for next paint job.
• Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or GED;
• Currently attending an accredited university or college majoring in Auto Body or Vehicle Mechanics.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, speak and write in English, comprehend and compose instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to successfully convey evaluative findings to appropriate parties for consideration.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to perform intermediate math.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to research and interpret findings in regards to goods and services specifications, supplier needs and risk assessments.
