Position Summary
The Parts Clerk supports the daily operations of the parts department by ensuring accurate receipt, inspection, organization, and distribution of parts needed for vehicle repairs. Working closely with the Parts Manager, estimators, and production staff, this role helps maintain an efficient workflow by ensuring technicians have the correct parts available when needed. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting high-quality repairs and timely vehicle delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts against purchase orders and repair orders.
- Perform mirror matching all parts to corresponding repair orders to ensure accuracy and proper fit before repairs begin.
- Inspect incoming parts for damage, defects, or discrepancies and coordinate returns or replacements as necessary.
- Accurately check in and document all parts received within the shop management system.
- Organize and stage parts in designated locations or assigned technician carts for efficient access during repairs.
- Deliver parts to technicians and communicate the arrival of critical components.
- Monitor incoming deliveries and maintain an organized, clean, and efficient parts storage area.
- Assist with inventory organization, cycle counts, and maintaining accurate parts records.
- Collaborate with the Parts Manager, estimators, and production team to ensure parts availability aligns with repair schedules.
- Maintain accurate documentation and update repair status as needed within company management systems.
- Follow all company policies, OEM procedures, and safety standards while handling automotive parts and materials.
- When applicable, drive to pick up, transport, and deliver parts between vendors, suppliers, and the facility, ensuring parts are handled securely and delivered accurately and in a timely matter.
- Assist with additional parts department and shop operations assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Previous experience in a collision repair department or automotive parts role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts and collision repair processes.
- Experience with CCC ONE estimating and management software is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders, written estimates, and parts documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn shop management systems.
