General Summary:

Qualcomm Customer Engineering is looking for motivated and experienced software engineers to support the China Auto AI Ecosystem program. This role will work closely with automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, ISVs, model partners, and internal Qualcomm engineering teams to enable customer proof-of-concepts, AI demos, benchmarking activities, ecosystem partner integrations, and technical issue resolution across Qualcomm automotive platforms.

The successful candidate will help customers and partners bring AI use cases to automotive systems, including GenAI cockpit, multimodal interaction, in-car agent, vision AI, ADAS-related AI workloads, edge AI inference, and software-defined vehicle use cases. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on debugging capability, structured problem-solving, clear communication, and a proactive attitude to drive technical issues to closure.

We value candidates with strong learning ability, engineering discipline, customer-facing mindset, collaboration skills, and the willingness to work in a fast-moving automotive AI ecosystem environment. In particular, we expect candidates can use mainstream AI tools to extend work scope and enhance work efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, ISVs, and ecosystem partners in AI application development, integration, debugging, and optimization.
  • Analyze customer issues, reproduce technical problems, narrow down problem areas, and work with internal engineering teams to drive issue closure.
  • Enable AI use cases for automotive scenarios such as GenAI cockpit, multimodal interaction, in-car assistant, vision AI, ADAS-related applications, edge AI inference, and SDV use cases.
  • Support customer proof-of-concepts, technical demos, benchmark activities, and competitive analysis based on real automotive workloads.
  • Develop reusable technical assets, including demo packages, benchmark reports, integration notes, troubleshooting guides, and best-practice documentation.
  • Collaborate with China-local ecosystem partners, including model providers, middleware vendors, ISVs, IHVs, and Tier-1 engineering teams.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical workshops, developer enablement activities, trade shows, and industry events as needed.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, and maintain a customer-first mindset while protecting engineering quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Automation, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software, AI software, automotive software, edge computing, or related engineering areas.
  • Solid programming experience in C/C++ and/or Python.
  • Good understanding of software development, debugging, issue analysis, and configuration management tools such as Git.
  • Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts and hands-on experience with at least one common ML framework or runtime, such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX Runtime, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with customers, partners, and cross-functional internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive software, smart cockpit, ADAS, SDV, edge AI, embedded Linux, QNX, Android, or real-time/embedded systems.
  • Experience with AI model deployment, inference runtime integration, profiling, performance analysis, model conversion, quantization, or acceleration on heterogeneous compute platforms.
  • Familiarity with multimedia, graphics, camera, or data pipeline technologies such as GStreamer, FFmpeg, OpenGL/OpenCL/Vulkan, or Qt.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical engagements, issue triage, partner enablement, demos, benchmarks, or proof-of-concepts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to produce clear technical documentation and customer-facing materials.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, collaborative, and comfortable working in an ambiguous and fast-evolving ecosystem environment.
  • Open to short term business travelling.
